It was on TV on Sunday night I think, but well worth a watch if it comes on again. The keeper, a film about Bert Trautman the ex Man City keeper famous for playing on after breaking his neck in an FA cup final. From his war service, a POW onto playing football. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
I also watched the film about Bert Trautman but showing my age I also remember the final in which he broke his neck. In these troubled times it was nice to see a feel good story that came directly after world conflict, and the planet needs to get back to some sense of reality again.
Will look out for it Have seen some good ones recently. Team of the 80's. In depth film about Crystal Palace (yeah in know!) and how Malcolm Allison and then Terry Venable nearly made them serious contenders. True Genius (think that's what it was called) The George Best Story Howards Way - How Howard Kendall turned Everton into league, cup and European Winners There's a European football club finder with Tom Watt (bloke from EastEnders from years ago, looking at league football in remote areas of Europe like Tromso and the Faero Islands. There is also one of his films that goes to out of the way places in England and Scotland which is really good There's one about the link between the UK and Corinthian of Brazil which I've not watched yet and the Forest/Cloughie one is a joy.
So did I. Until his son's accident, soft sod that I am these days, I turned it off. So didn't watch the last few minutes.
After that part of the film it brought everything together, including a chance meeting with the officer in charge of the POW camp.
