Grant Holt's shout at going to the Euro's that is Not there was much of one anyway but after Wellbeck and Sturridge putting in strong performances with a couple of quality goals, Crouchy scoring another one and even Victor Moses grabbing the headlines with some barnstorming performances there is now absolutely zero chance Holty will even get mentioned when it comes to picking the squad. I was gutted he didn't start on Saturday as I felt it was surely his last chance to put himself in the window, but for some reason Lambo decided to only give him a token 20 minutes at the end which meant he had no time to make an impact, and with his other rivals having excellent weekends I'm afraid that really the wheels have finally fallen off the Holt for England campaign once and for all. And if I'm being completely honest with my yellow and green tinted specs off I think I have to say, hand on heart, that I probably agree with that. We all talk about him being the form striker because he's scored more than any other Englishman apart from Rooney, but to be honest his form lately for one reason or another hasn't been amazing, and he would have had to had a strong run in even to have a tiny chance, and that clearly didn't happen. As much as I'd have loved him to have been called up I think when we look back on it we might have been a little biased and let our emotions get in the way. I did actually find myself agreeing with some of that Leed's bloke's comments the other day, and as much as it pains me to say it I now don't think Holty is the man for us at the Euros. Sorry everyone, I appreciate that may be blasphemy but I'm sure you can see where I'm coming from. Ah well, there's always the Olympics....
Calm before the storm i think, they'll be begging him after his hat trick at the emirates this weekend!
Sorry to disappoint mate, but I actually am being deadly serious this time Didn't realise that about Moses by the way, I personally think he's absolute quality.
A narrow escape for Holt in my opinion. We know what England will do don't we? We have seen it often enough this past forty years.I am going with my local team -Holland.
I think he has more of a chance under Hodgson. Redknapp would go for Crouch which would probably rule out another target man, whilst Hodgson would probably prefer Zamora but if QPR go down he may overlook him. Than again he may pick a safe and internationally experienced team because he knows he isn't everyones choice.
On a serious note redruth, I think we'd do well to score one ! Personally I'm bracing myself for a cricket score in the Gunner's favour on Saturday. Minimum 4 goals against I'm afraid
Its our last chance this season to show the wider world that we have a good attacking side to us and give a good account of ourselves. We won't compete possession wise so lets just go for it in the same way as we did at Spurs. But you're right. I am feeling a drubbing coming on.
