The Metropolitan Police have finally seen sense and confirmed that they won't be arresting Spurs fans for using the word Yid in an inoffensive context anymore. Fans who use it in a derogatory fashion will still be subject to prosecution, though there's no evidence that this has ever happened, unfortunately.
Where's the press release saying they'll be arresting West Ham fans for using it in an obviously offensive context when numerous officers are stood within a few feet of them on the way to the ground?
This is brilliant news, I was worried the Met were going to keep threatening us with action even though they know they won't make it to court. Common sense prevails once again but threatening, fining and arresting us was totally stupid last season and caused unnecessary aggro. YIDDDOOOOOS \o/
One thing I know very well is that the police have better things to do with their time and limited resources than waste them on chasing fools' errands. Baddiel, should be charged with wasting police time, and that embarrassment of a, Herbert, should be sanctioned by the Bar for being a complete tit.
What made it worse was the club's fence-sitting during the whole non-issue, at least until the CPS dropped all charges against a couple of our fans. When the supporter's trust are doing more to say the situation was an utter farce than the club, that did leave a bad taste in the mouth.
