Just watched USA women beat Japan 2 - 1 in front of over 80,000 at Wembley. (Would have been more but the 10,000 unsold seats were priced at £125, apparently <yikes> <doh> )

An absolute joy to watch - and I never thought I'd hear myself say that. USA looking to break quickly and using their extra height to good effect, Japan spraying the ball around really well on the deck to counter the height difference and retaining possession extremely well.

3 well worked goals and a good atmosphere. If there is one footballing legacy from these games, it would be good if coaches of womens football in the UK can learn from some of these foreign sides and adapt some of the strategies so that the game in this country can be taken seriously from now on. <ok>

Women's football stands to gain a lot for these Olympics. We have the facilities and certainly enough girls interested, let's get it done, there's no excuse.

The blokes football will take decades to sort out but the girls have a clean slate
