Apparently this rumour has been completely debunked by West Ham

 

Keep him fit and you know you've got a good all round CF for this season. Better than what you have. Surely he can't demand a high wage with his injury history?

 

He would be a good option, when fit, compared to what we have. I don't think there is anything more to this story than lazy journalism though.

 

Loan could work all ways. West Ham can't priorities and accommodate him into any long team tactics/gelling cause of his injuries and you wouldn't want him permanent cause of the same reason, understandably. Loan would suit everyone. You say it's lazy but it's popped up again after it was mentioned 4 or 5 days back. At a guess Carrols agent trying to get him a move for more playing time. He's been spending a lot of time on the bench when fit after all.

Hate to say it but he's a cracking Center Forward. Shame for him his injuries have restricted a promising career

 

I would love you to be right. Just seen this story every single year since we sold him though - even when he was still at Liverpool. It makes me cynical about it, even if there finally was something to it.

 

Also not sure how much of a 'Rafa type' player he is.

 

Yeah, were been linked with Leadbitter, Murphy and Waghorn(ex players). We knew the latter two were complete bullshit given we all knew we didn't have the money. Think we are in for Leadbitter though if we can shift some players. Journos(hate them by the way) Just trot out any old rubbish for the paycheck. Makes it tough to work out the truth half the time. If it keeps popping it it may have legs but see your point. It's one of those you only believe it when you see em with the shirt.

 

It amazes me how many transfer rumour stories in the press are about players going back to clubs. How often does it actually happen? I'm sure there are more, but off the top of my head I can only think of Terry McDermott, Peter Beardsley and Lee Clarke for us. It certainly doesn't happen as often as the transfer rumours would suggest.

 

Barely ever happened to us in recent years. Bridges, Arca, McCarthy and Varga going back a decade, before that we're looking at the likes of Bracewell 25 years ago. But compared to how many we've been linked with, we'd only have room in our squad for ex players only if it were down to the press.

 

The only way a loan will happen is in the last hours of the window. West Ham will want to shift him permanently. One of those that will go right up to the wire for any club. I don't think Ashley would sanction it and I'm not convinced Rafa would want him unless he shifted Mitro.
