In the blink of an eye and a world cup chucked in, the 2014/15 season is upon us. Our summer transfer business is still to be completed but then as a club we are by no means alone in that fact. Unlike the last 2 or 3 seasons, our transfer policy has had some structure and a sense of planning about it IMO and I'm pleasantly happy with our acquisitions thus far.

Jones, Gomez and Pantilimon came in very quickly for buttons and then Aarholt and Vergini have followed. The protracted Borini saga still rolls on and unlike some, I'm prepared to be patient (to a point) and don't take his slow decision making as any kind of slant or dismiss of our club. This would be our record transfer and a massive move for a 23 year old who's EPL career had stalled until his loan move to us. I still believe he will sign and if he does, SAFC will be all the better for it. The lad Buckley may well be next and possibly another defender on loan and for me, all the bases will have been very well covered.

The jewel in the crown though surely must be the capture of Rodwell. Hailed when at Goodison as the next big English star, his light has faded at City but not his talent. A young hungry Jack Rodwell, bossing our midfield and offering a genuine box to box force excites me. He's a Bryan Robson type of player that we have missed for some time and such a massive improvement on Colback.

A resurgent Fletcher and a rejuvenated Cattermole with Adam Johnson and Giacherinni supported better will make us a far better and dangerous team this season. I'm excited and full of anticipation for a much more settled season in the middle to top 10 of the table and Gus seems very relaxed about our prospects too.

    Haway the Lads :)

Really? Aside from Rodwell who, fitness permitting, will be one of the signings of the summer, it strikes me that it has been yet another summer of a kid in a sweetshop. Jones, Gomez, Van Aanholt. These are not players who you think "yeah, solid premier league players".

EDIT Pantilion aswell is an amazing signing

Your opinions are unimportant and uneducated and are dismissed without interest.

    Unbelievable..

Cest spends time, to write another very well written article, and the first reply has to be some mag, having a pop.

    The club who signed Colback.

He comes on here just to disrupt threads and it works despite him being shot down and humiliated time and again.

He just scurries off, to lick his wounds, and comes back to continue his obsession with Sunderland.

He serves no useful purpose unlike the decent Mags, like Sombrero & others, who offer sensible views with a bit of humour.

This is where I disagree with your reluctance to ban people, a month's ban every time he acts the twat might sort his daft head out.

Let him stay, he's harmless, clueless and who knows, even homeless.

Micha Richards would really take us to the next level, accomplished centreback, quick, young, good with the ball at his feet, would complement Wes to perfection.
