Funny how there was a joke going round before the game "wayne rooney says he feels gutted after being sent off in the 34th minute of england game tomorrow" maybe it wasn't a joke, an he just got the time wrong
Wouldn't shock me if it was deliberate. Not as a betting scam, but more like "**** it, if my dad can get in trouble over a sending off then so can I".
I blame Cappello for playing him. Rooney is always likely to punch someones face in at the best of times. Any other player kicks out like Rooney did you think WTF is he doing. But when Rooney did it you are not surprised and just think he is an idiot.
I love the way in football that someone can make fantastic plays/score countless goals and they are a hero but as soon as someone makes a mistake they are scrum. Footballers are human and yes they are paid a lot of money to do a job but I don't think anyone can put there hand on their heart and say they have never made a mistake ! Kg
He let his passion and frustration get the better of him. I'm not saying he should be excused from this behaviour and he has let a lot of people down.
Ever noticed that in a Manure shirt Rooney is calm and doesnt get wound up but in an England Shirt he's a petulant child. Modern English footballer, respect your club but not your country.
Not pointless at all! we should still have enough in us to get to the knock out stages, and then he will come into play! we will take 22 players to the competition and use 15 players max in those first 3 games with some players literally there to make up the numbers as back up! Its one of those where either way people will argue the decision, but if we get to the knock out stages im sure everyone will want him in the team then!!
What if we get through the group winning all games with ease (VERY unlikely) ? Too risky to have someone like Rooney imo. The worst thing to do is have England setup just to have Rooney fit in as well(I can see Capello doing this).
"in an England Shirt he's a petulant child" I did notice that, and kt has it half right. The half being that the Man U team is built around Rooney, to see to it that he gets the service he needs. The other half is that Man U has more talent than the other team 95% of the time. Put a player who's used to being supported as well as possible on a team that isn't as focussed at it, and isn't as experienced or skillful at it, let them play teams around their level of talent and often enough better, and watch a poisonous attitude develop in a player with a short fuse. It's why I'd get rid of Rooney entirely. Since his first tournament, he's never looked like scoring and always looked on the verge of doing something disgraceful.
