Hopefully either Palace or Cardiff will make the final and pick up a Europa League spot.

Great win for Palace! Although I note they have slipped down the table, so maybe this will be to big a distraction and their League form may suffer. But, for now, may they bask in the glory of their win!

Yeah, was the only one supporting Palace in a pub full of Man U fans, but in the end I think they deserved it, well done you Eagles. Slightly disappointed that we limped out of the last round to them, as I think we could have won at Old Trafford tonight as that is the poorest United performance I have seen for a long time; toothless upfront. Still delight for Crystal Palace.

Hopefully either Palace or Cardiff will make the final and pick up a Europa League spot.

They would need to win the final to get the spot though. It's not like the FA Cup, where the runner-up gets the European slot if the winner has already qualified through league position (with the league cup, the european slot goes to the 6th placed PL side instead - don't ask me why)

Had Arsenal beaten Birmingham in last season's final, Liverpool would be in the Europa League now, not Birmingham (Arsenal of course would still be in the CL)

Well done the Eagles. The other thing no-one has mentioned is that this will annoy Brighton fans as well as Man U fans, so a double whammy!

Are Palace playing on Friday? That seems really harsh.

Well, it had already been decided before they made the QFs. But yes, surely Sky could have either subsequently arranged to show a different Championship match on Friday night (thus moving Palace-Derby back to Saturday), or (probably easier) shown United-Palace as their Tuesday night game and made one of the other QFs their Wednesday night game.

And the first leg is the 9th january. They should think about resting a few for Boxing day and saving their energy for early Jan and winnigna trip to wembley!!

Plastic manure fans up and down the country must have taken so much stick when they shuffled in to work today. It's not hard to imagine last night all the pub bores in their replica shirts, crying into their beers, putting on a Manc accent (I've heard it done) and coming out with all kinds of excuses.

What a breed...
