Would like us to win with a similar score on Saturday.

"ANTHONY Wilson’s hat-trick and goals from Russell Fry and Danny Emerton helped North Ferriby United to a 5-2 win over Bridlington Town as they ended the season by lifting the ERCFA Senior Cup.

The Villagers started brightly and Brid needed keeper Phil Dobson to pull off two good saves to keep it at 0-0, so it was no surprise when Ferriby took the lead in the 20th minute.

Danny Clarke and Matt Wilson linked up well and when Wilson was upended on the edge of the penalty area, Russell Fry stepped up and curled a delightful free kick into the right hand corner at the Roy West Centre.

Dobson again denied Wilson before half-time, with Clarke’s clever flick coming back off the post. In the ensuing scramble Jon De Laryea, Clarke and Fry were all denied by great last ditch defending by Chris Jenkinson.

On the rare occasions that Bridlington got forward, Craig Hogg and Joel Sutton looked lively and the CENL Premier Division side stunned the Villagers in the 38th minute when Sutton got clear of the defence and was brought down by Gregg Anderson for a penalty. The striker got up and fired the ball past Antoni Pecora for the equaliser and 1-1 at the interval.

In the second half, Ferriby had the better of the chances as Jenkinson again made a fine tackle to deny Wilson.

But the Villagers regained the lead in the 71st minute with a fine bit of football as Louis Bruce’s right wing cross was left for Anthony Wilson to head in.

Ferriby looked to have made the game safe in the 73rd minute when Fry broke away down the right hand side and squared the ball for Wilson to side foot home.

Three minutes later, though, Brid were back in it as a fine angled drive from Hogg flew over Pecora and nestled in the left hand side of the net to make it 3-2.

Two minutes later, Wilson set up Louis McMahon, who was brought down by Ramm, and from the resultant penalty Wilson sent Dobson the wrong way to complete his hat-trick.

Ferriby wrapped up their 19th East Riding Cup win in the 85th minute when Emerton got the goal his performance deserved, beating Dobson to the ball and finishing from a narrow angle.

Ferriby: Antoni Pecora, Louis Bruce, Nathan Peat, Jon De Laryea, Gregg Anderson, Matt Wilson (Mark Gray 58), Danny Clarke (c), Russell Fry, Anthony Wilson, Tim Taylor (Louis McMahon 55), Danny Emerton (Dean Lisles 90). Subs not used: Adam Nicklin, Paul Robson.

Bridlington Town: Phil Dobson, Joel Ramm, Dean Craig, Ash Allanson (Darren Rooks 34), Chris Jenkinson (c), Craig Palmer (Adam Crane 17), Rickki Paylor, Wayne Aziz, Craig Hogg (Johnny Morritt 90), Joel Sutton, Tom Lee. Subs not used: Danny Brunton, Paul Fraser."

Nice end for NFU but they were expected to win the game.
