MOTD's first game was QPR V Norwich, a four-nil game with a sending off. Sky went with us versus Sunderland. BBC should be commended in avoiding big team syndrome. A 1-1 score-draw with no sendings-off should not be ahead of an exciting game.
This the same pundit that has predicted utd to to win the league again? Anyway, are you saying it wasn't a pen and a red card?
At least they put to bed the suggestion that Mignolet was gonna get the ball before Suarez (Bruce made this claim too). Mignolet doesn't even get to the ball when it's just rolling away after Suarez is brought down!
Yeah, he could've probably got it from where he was sat on the bench behind Kenny knowing him. please log in to view this image (i'm referring to Dirk, btw)
I don't care what anyone says the Andy Carroll goal should have stood. Anton Ferdinand is as much of a cheat as his scumbag camelhead brother. Richardson wasn't sent off and rightly so.
No it shouldn't have as you shouldn't have had a free kick in the build up, Saurez threw himself to the floor with Ferdinand nowhere near him. Also for the pen Saurez handled it when closing Richardson down with his hands in the air.
So Suarezs' arms are in his chest now? Only a Man United would say something that stupid. Andy Carrolls goal was legitimate as Anton fell over his two left feet.
It hits his left arm its a handball. I agree Carroll didn't foul Ferdinand but the ball shouldn't have went in the box as Saurez blatantly dived for the free kick leading to it. When would you like Carroll out of Browns back pocket.
Are you taking the piss with that one? How do you take the ball past a keeper without going AROUND him and thus away from the goal. Even so, the ball's momentum is forwards, so it's not as if Suarez had diverted the ball to such an extent that the opportunity to score was gone. In fact, his next touch would have been a tap in, or failing that, the touch afterwards. Plenty of keepers have been sent off for bringing a player down who tries to take the ball past them and who is, by your logic, 'going away from goal'.
He was not heading "away from goal" he was heading for the right hand side of the goal, he was closer to the goal after that touch than he was before it. anyway has anyone got a link to rules as would like to see if "away from goal" is actually defined in there. Re you doubting the "touch" for pen, I really feel sorry for you commenting on a football forum when you do not have a clue, even beachball head said it was a "defo" pen.
The law states "to deny a clear goalscoring opportunity". The referee deemed it not to be a clear goalscoring oppotunity. Nothing to do with 'going away from goal or last man as some "expert " pundits say (they obviously have NEVER read the rule book). Yellow card.....end of story.
I think it was an opportunity though. As i said Suarez is rolling that ball in within his next couple of touches. The keeper isn't getting there.
Well thanks for the bit about the law, I suspected that myself. However, you surprised me somewhat when after stating the law you think it is a clear yellow card, surely the position Suarez found himself in IE being away from the last defender and about to go past the keeper is a clear goalscoring opportunity?
