Just wanted to applaud you United folk for striking a blow for the beautiful game against the "Worlds 3rd biggest sports event" today.

    It made my day.

Interesting that the reasons cited were concerns about scheduling classhes with United's expect Champions League partition around the same time, and the damage to the pitch. Why then are Citeh steppinbg into the breach? Maybe they don't expect to be playing in the Champions League around then.

Also funny the newspapers are reporting that the Rugby Worlds had wanted OTs 76,000 to help achieve the 3m fans target, but will have to instead make do with the smaller Etihad at 60,000 ..... I think they have teh Etihad confused with EMirates.

Our pitch is ****e enough without some massive blokes rolling around on it. We already host the Super League Grand final and the Rugby League WC final and did the Olympic footy and the CL final. It's about time we let one of the more poxy stadiums in the NW have a chance to host a major event <ok>

Have to agree with the op. Every single one of you United folk on this board is entirely responsible for this farce. Especially Eric.

Don't worry, I'm sure they'll be able to host a few games at the mighty Anfield.

They have approached Liverpool to play some games there, right? <whistle>

I just want these rugger folk to go sepnd their rich boy millions on their own stadiums.

For too long have they looked down with contempt at football and its fans, yet happy to sponge off the capital investment made by football in infrastructure and stadia for their tournaments.

Even sadder is the patehtic RL fraternity having a laugh at this RU "debacle", when they are even worse when it comes to their anti-football rants and bemoaning how no one likes their games because the media doesn't cover it. QUite how they got their way with having their statue being put next to the Wolrd Legend that si BVooby Noore outside Wembley I will never know. Might as well have William The Fridge Perry there as well on the same basis.

Don't like football, don't like us fans for loving football, well then bog off and build your own grounds.
