Yep, I'm not his biggest fan performance-wise at this level - but he did what he needed to do very well. And a brilliant save. Well done Super Kelv.
My point being he was number 1 for ages , and I am really pleased for him he proved he still has it .
He was unfortunate to perform badly when we were leaking goals. The defence overall has tightened up now. There was that indecisive period about the goalkeeping position, but his new contract suggests that Mauricio rates SKD. I do hope Boruc isn't too badly injured though as I don't fancy Gazza being on the bench...he's better getting his confidence back in the U21s.
That is why he, rather than Gazza, is on the bench each week. An experienced head, to be thrown into the action at short notice. Nothing to do with who is actually our 2nd best keeper.
I actually felt fairly okay with SKD back there. He's not as good as Boruc, and over a stretch of games it would certainly show. But you can always count on him to do his best and I feel like he ups his game in clutch moments because he knows how much it means to the club. Perfect backup GK. I also think he can do the job against Reading if necessary, but hopefully Boruc will be back.
Though, in fairness, it looks like the Poch has told his keepers, that if they can't get it too an opponent, get flippin' rid! Under Adkins we leaked goals due to the keeper continually kicking it in to stupid places. Since he's been here, it goes past te half way line, off the pitch or too a team mate!
I am not too sure Boruc's kicking was any better today, albeit that may have been a consequence of his knock. Still it is a lot easier for SKD to come back into a team full of confidence.
