Have just heard how you applauded Billy Sharp when he scored against you.

Congratulations Town fans. You are a credit to mankind and football.

Sympathise with Billy with what he has gone through, a very brave man. However do not buy in to this applause when he scored, as you should never encourage any opponent, even if he used to play for you, yet I can tell you I was feeling just the same. However did applaud when he left the field, because then he can no longer give you problems.

I applauded the guy and I'd applaud him again. Sure, it's encouraging him, but I saw it more as showing support to a bloke who's going through a very tough time right now, but still continues as a professional.

Chelsea fan here. I'd just like to say the same.

Today you showed there still is some good left in football and are a credit not just to your club, but football fans in general <applause>

It was a jesture of support to a guy and his family going through a bad time. Im not saying Town fans done anything special but it was the right thing to do and I'm proud that we done it.
Jaidi, We didnt ask for the praise, we done it because it was the right thing to do. As you say other clubs will do the same and it will prove that FOOTBALL, not ITFC supporters are mainly a decent set of people.

It was indeed a gesture of support, Billy is a very brave man, who has my sympathy, and wish him well. However looking at the bigger picture, am not sure it was wise to clap him after he scored, we were trying to win a game. There was good applause for Naylor, but am not sure why. sure he might have deserved it, just keep your memories in your mind. All this clapping of ex players seems to be something that has grown over the years, do not recall this thirty or forty years ago. Don't get me started on booing opposition players, your wasting your time, this people are pros, they would consider it a sign of respect, and all you would be doing. is creating the exact opposite of what you are trying to achieve, your not putting them off their game, your helping it. Silence is golden.

I will always clap an ex player who gave his heart to this club and left under normal circumstances. I will only normally do it before a game but I think it is good to show that we remember the time they came and helped our club in some way. We are all very quick to point out how f##king useless some one is so I think it is good to show in some small way how much we appreciated others.
