IF we win on Monday we are at least 4th <ok>

Shame Norwich couldn't hang on for a result, but Arsenal could have been 5-0 up, let alone 2-1 when RVP scored the killer goal, with a sublime finish that reminded me of Greaves at his best.

  2. If Chelski lose or draw AND we win by more than 2 goals, we will be 3rd.

Let's just win our game and let the other results sort themselves out.

    lol.

I just think with our squad and team looking as strong as we currently are that we don't need to worry about other teams doing us favours by taking points off rivals.

And if Ciy and United both go into administration, we'll be top!

I think we very much have to worry about other teams' results, they will be vital in determining if we make top 4.

Of course our results are priority, but we still need results like City's today, while results like Arsenal's put pressure on us.

Incidentally, IF we win and Chelsea lose or draw we're 3rd, even if we only win by one goal. GD will be irrelevant, as we'll have more points.

But as long as we win, I don't really mind what happens in that game, though still prefer a Chelsea win.

  8. We'd go above Chelsea into 4th. We'll go above the Toon into 3rd only if we win by at least two goals (unless the game-in-hand puts us ahead of the Toon should we both end up with the same GD). I confess, I'm not sure how that works.

We'd go above Toon if we win by one goal, as we'll have level GD but we've scored more goals than them. Our game in hand doesn't count in such calculations, though hopefully when we win it, we'll be an extra 3 points ahead, and comfortably 3rd by then :)

Agreed. We just have to concentrate on winning, and let the others worry about us. If we can develop the killer instinct - to finish teams off once we have the advantage, then we'll be top 4 at the end of the season, no problem.

    That wasn't in the script.

Chavski really are looking ****e. Their defence is a shambles. The car thieves look like scoring every time they come forward.

Just realised it's a nine point deduction for adminitstration, not 10. This means we also have to win by 26 goals.

    COYS! :D

I just hope we learn from last season - it all went wrong after xmas.

From memory we were 7 points from top and HR was talking us up as title contenders.

Then we failed to beat teams we should have.

The team ran out of steam due to a lack of rotation last season, in my opinion.
Some players were just run into the ground and it took it's toll, in the end.
Hopefully that won't be the case this time round and Redknapp will have learned a painful lesson.

We've certainly got the depth of squad to rest players, so I hope that we'll do a better job of it this season.
With the absence of Champions League football, Redknapp won't have the same pressure to go up against truly top-notch opposition every 3 or 4 days.
Players like Sandro, Gallas, Corluka, Kranjcar and the like should all be desperate to get some game time now, despite their injury problems, so we should see some changes when the fixtures pile up.

Part of the late season bad run, I'd guess, was that Spurs last year were poor mudders, like Arsenal actually. The faster and more attractive football you play, the less well you're likely to do on a wet and/or cold or otherwise substandard pitch. Both Parker and Ade should help, Parker for grit and work level, Ade for set pieces.

Interesting for me to note cultural differences. When I see game in hand, I make up for it in my head: so Spurs have 22 points from 10 games, meaning they're averaging 2.2 (let's call it 2) points a game, so they're now, the way I figure it, a point up on Newcastle, and 4 on Chelsea and Liverpool.

Yeah, can't be too greedy I guess. I'd settle for a win and just City going into administration right now :D
