Thank goodness for Sam Byram, finally a sensible interview. Following on from Pearce's less than lukewarm take on Milanic coming in, Phil Neville's astonishing attack on Cellino going foreign (for the first time in the club's history), and then Jonathan "I'm clearly a bitter knob" Douglas claiming the Leeds players wanted Redders to get the head coach job, well it's good to hear a lad who came through the Academy getting it right. Byram has said that for now it makes perfect sense to keep Redders in the Academy because he does such a brilliant job, and there is no point in giving him the top job only to sack him down the line and lose him to the club. And Byram should know, Redders raised him after all. On Milanic, Byram said the Brentford loss was down to the players and not the boss, because Milanic had no time to influence the team. He spoke about how on Monday the gaffer was keen to address a major issue he saw - too many passes were sideways and not incisive enough. Milanic wants more balls in behind defenders for our strikers to run onto. Less playing safe and more fast, risk taking football. Funny that, I know quite a few on here who were screaming the same thing at Hock. Byram also said that Milanic was bringing fresh ideas to training, and that made it very enjoyable. He also wants Milanic to be here for the long term to build his team. Now how about that Jason Pearce? This is how a leader speaks. Maybe it's time to give a Leeds lad the skipper's armband. Absolute sense spoken, insightful and mature, and most importantly positive. No shirking either or making excuses for the Brentford loss, simply straight in there laying the blame at the feet of the players for not performing. Maybe we should start a petition to get Byram the armband, who knows, he may just be a super leader. He's showing the qualities, that's for sure, and he's a hundred percenter on the pitch. Oh, and Leeds is his club. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Like the post, Billy, but I think Byram's got enough to do this season in reclaiming his old form. No further pressure required.
No way should Byram get the armband. He is struggling to keep a position in the first team let alone lead the players out on the pitch, his playing style is still very naive and I'll be honest I've never really seen him take command of the defense in the slightest. Warnock should've gotten the armband when McD named his captain imo. and he is still the most sensible option. Possibly the only player likely to play every game for us (other than Silvestri but I hate it when keeper's get the armband), always seems to be vocal and has been there done it at the highest level.
I think Bellusci is captain in all but name anyway. Seems as though Pearce is only there to choose ends. In any case we need leaders all over the pitch, they all need to be more vocal. Antenucci is another leader, but we need more like that. Just because one player's got the armband it doesn't mean the others have to become mute and go into a shell. As for Byram, good and respectful interview, Pearce could learn something from him
yep ... exactly my point when I said maybe ... just wanted to highlight one of the weaker candidates for skipper is actually a better option than Pearce ... makes you wonder how long before Cooper replaces Pearce and Bellusci gets the job Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Hopefully Cooper will play tonight. Hoping to see a better performance tonight and to see if Darko has managed to get anything across to the lads.
