Congratulations on finding a way through the play offs to make an immediate return. As most of you know, I have seen quite a lot of your games this season as the TV coverage for QPR has been quite generous this season, but as with many of you guys I have found it so dull to watch. I think the word 'pragmatic' has been used quite a lot to describe the R's approach, and to be fair it has worked this season (or at least worked well enough to get the job done). The team appears to have a unity about it, which was lacking before but there is now the danger that this unity could get undone should there be a summer spending spree. What do you, as fans, want for QPR next season though? Just to survive any way you can, playing like they did this season - would this really make you happy? Play more attractive football again, although that does not ensure victories? This is something we discussed on our board this season, and it was almost a 50/50 split, so curious to see what you guys think.
My aim for this season is to survive "comfortably", so in the 12th-14th ballpark. We've not had a moment's peace over the past 4 years: there was the final day Faurlin saga, followed by the final day 3-2 at Man City, followed by a rock bottom finish, and now scraping promotion via the playoffs. I'd probably take boredom if it was relaxing boredom, and part of a wider consolidation plan which involved transitioning to more exciting football over future campaigns. I'd like to see very tangible evidence during the summer that lessons have been learned. No sweeping changes to personnel, just 3/4 sensible additions, and all under the age of 30. Then maybe 1/2 in January if required (hopefully not).
Where did I slag QPR off? I said Derby were mugged and they were. I said QPR were dull to watch - they were, and I have repeated it here, as they have been for large chunks of the season, and most on here agree. I said you could be facing a £50m+ FFP fine - you could be. I also praised your defence and Robert Green for yesterday. I told KIO he had someone to hate in the PL next season - so what, that's not slagging you off so get a life and stop trying to stir
Thanks Thai and apologies for the unfair attack on you. I said it last time, I'll say it again. Survival will do for now until we can establish ourselves. We build incrementally. If players don't want to play for us unless we take out a mortgage to pay each of their wages they can find some other mug to rob. That goes for the ones out of contract as well. This is what team spirit and unity mean. They want to stay for their team mates and for us - not because they can burn £50 notes and not worry where the next suitcase load are coming from. If they don't want to they can **** off elsewhere. I'm sure their agents will be able to find them somewhere based on their massive reputations. We will do at least as well with the core of our present squad still playing than if we replace them with 15 cool new guys (AKA has-beens) at a cost to the club which will far exceed the cost of bringing them here given FFP. If we didn't spend a penny except on youngsters worth developing - to play with a few wise old heads and went back down immediately, I'd be satisfied in the knowledge we would come back up again stronger and richer. Anything that is good is worth waiting for. Sensible additions will include a playmaker from the lower leagues to replace Taarabt (we've definitely lacked a spark of creativity this season) and some strengthening in all departments which has the effect of reducing the average age of the team. Good luck for next season. I'm not one of the Norwich haters on here.
Heeeeeey Ciarrai ya made it home ok then and feckin' hell you up early. was an absolute pleasure to meet ya yesterday
Please don't apologise on my account. Norwich, Cardiff & Fulham relegated, Rangers promoted. Carlsberg don't do football seasons ..........
If you want to believe that our Thai/Norwich chum is purely posting on our board because he wants to promote inter forum debate and REALLY wants some knowledge and understanding about our club then that's entirely your choice. Other might see his posts as thinly veiled WUMing, from an individual who is quite obviously gutted that our team has been promoted, and his team has been relegated. Again, that is their choice. Me ?? I couldn't give a toss about any other team right now 'cos yesterday was probably one of the best days of my life !!!
Buy a new team Well at least 6-7 top quality players Very lucky yesterday to win Or I can say this now ... Very difficult to beat The premiership needs QPR but a flair QPR so I hope we change
Likey Stainsey said ...probably one of the best days of my life too (excluding the personal hubbie and babies bit) I am gonna trying to enjoy it...regardless of the "you only got one shot" merchants But what a shot
I would like to agree with this, as in principle it is about right. Conversely it makes a mockery of a multi-team football forum. Enjoy your celebrations, enjoy the PL, and I will say no more.
There were some important snippets / soundbites from yesterday: Band of brothers - MUST NOT BE DESTROYED!! Fernandes - older and wiser and stating that there are quality players in the lower leagues. Also about stability when asked about Harry's position HIll (I think) - there are no mercenaries in this team. Harry - facing next season with enthusiasm. Probably there are more quotes too but these were very encouraging as we grab this second chance (how many teams get that opportunity?) and doing it properly.
