I have to say, I am surprised, and impressed by the arrival of Warnock. It would have been all too easy for Bates to give the hot seat to Redfearn, Brown, Clarke or similar, who would have been a lot easier to man manage, pay them a lot less, and give them a small budget. Warnock is a man of ambition, and he speaks his mind. He would have given Bates a lot of searching questions regarding transfer kitties and budgets before he took the job. The mere fact that he took the job shows that Bates has ambition. Maybe he was unsure about Graysons signings, and did not want his money wasted.
Easy tiger! Just because he's carried out one redeemable action doesn't make him a Saint. Think of all the other ****e we've had to put up with. The best compliment I can offer him about his decision is 'about fookin' time you did something right'!
I doubt it Elland. I don't want to go down this route again, have everyone calm down only to realise that he's the same lying, thieving conning bastard he always was. The number of lies should be enough to never trust the man again. Everything that has been said between the sacking of Grayson and now has suggested that the board still have no intention of spending any substantial amount on playing staff. "We want someone who can get more out of the current squad" and "Warnock gives value for money with players". Anything and everything that is said points to "we don't want to spend the fans money on anything other than us".
Marko, Warmock would not have been short of offers, at least would have not needed to work for a bit, BUT he wanted the Leeds job. Bates must have promised him ........
I have to agree, getting Warnock in (no matter if almost every Leeds fan I spoke to wanted him in) is a massive plus for Leeds and I'm chuffed we have the right man in charge now. Onwards and upwards me thinks, starting from today.
14ish games to go. You dreamer Elland! anything is possible but please dont ever give that **** any sort of credit.
Getting Warnock is a fantastic move and just listening to his post match interview tells me he knows exactly what he wants to do with the players to get them playing the way he wants them to. I just fully expect bates to have fudged and fluffed the numbers and deflected questions regarding such things, maybe even straight up lied to his face about how much money he'll be given to spend in the summer.
Signing Warnock shows Bates is serious about getting promoted...Grayson was sacked when Bates lost confidence in him to do it. There's no other way to interpret recent events. Is Bates trying to do it on the cheap? Well yes but Warnock is not a man to be messed with. A bit of a caveman when it comes to team talks but the players need to be scared of him. Warnock could get us promoted next year (maybe this year) but not much more though. British players don't practice enough to match the best and in the EPL, we'll be found out big time. Against Arsenal in the cup we managed ONE shot over the bar in the whole game.
Poly if he was serious about getting promotion he'd have hired Warnock at the start of January, giving him time to get some of his own players in. They've avoided spending money at every opportunity.
Exactly a good move appointing Warnock but terrible timing and would we now be better off and stand more chance of promotion if: A) Bates had given Grayson 2 million in backing and funds for new players and wages on Jan 1st B) Bates sacked Grayson made Redfearn temporary manager and appointed Warnock after 3 points in 9 We shall never know....
makes me sick the club trumpeting Redfearn saying he's done a "good job". He was absolutely diabolical. I could understand them saying that had he got 6 from 12 with a difficult set of games but that run should have been all wins and he managed to throw away 6 points. Poor organisation on the boards part yet they continue to insist they've done nothing wrong.
Agree, shabby organisation. No way Redfearn should have been any games in charge. Just thank god it wasn't until the end of the season.
Any truth that Warnock wants a new nickname now he is Leeds boss? ... heard he wants to ditch 'Colin' and be known as 'Barbie' from now on - in recognition of the fond relationship developing with your cuddly Chairman?
