We're not usually involved in tense cup matches like that, so dunno how quite to react.

As a gracious loser i'll say weldone and good luck in the next round.

There's no shame losing to a top 4/5 team. I would say get behind AVB, you might not be playing great football, but your winning matches. That's what counts. You never know you might get some silverware.

Good luck in the next round.

    Cheers. <ok>
Very lucky to win both matches and Bruce seems to be doing a very good job with your side. You've not been getting the rub of the green recently, but he's getting performances from the players and that's the main thing.
Good luck against his old club on the weekend. Probably not the best time to be playing them (unlucky again!), but a rested Livermore and Huddlestone might be the boost that you need.

I hope you put another nail in Sunderland's coffin.

Yes you are right we aren't playing great football and haven't really been on good form all season but if this is as good as our form gets then it isn't good enough but with the help of lady luck we are getting favourable results but will it last? I don't know what we say about our next match which is Everton. We both beat Villa by the same score line 0-2 but even then we had a bit of luck as we did against you. You had first teamers out too and you drew with us, you might have won with them which says nothing for us. Good luck to you this season.

    Home.
    Leicester v Manchester City
    Stoke v Manchester United
    Sunderland/Southampton v Chelsea
    Tottenham v West Ham

Why didn't Sunderland and Southampton play this week?

  6. Home.

I'm hoping that by then (a) AVB will have worked out some proper tactics, and (b) our players start to play like they're worth the price-tags on their heads.

I don't think that we can use the excuse that it's a new team trying to gel anymore.

Just checked and it was moved because Newcastle were at home tonight.
Why they didn't move it to yesterday, I don't know. Weird.

Cheers Golaccio, what a game. I don't if you know but we regularly lose pen shoot outs, to finally win one was amazing.

It's the first I remember since 1984, but I think there was one in a low key game since, that I didn't get to watch - pre-stream days I think.

all credit to Hull tonight, you could perhaps have got one of our players sent off had you made a meal of Walker's tackle, glad of course you didn't, not just for tonight but Sunday.

Good luck to Hull for the rest of the season, (except against us) and well done for beating West Ham <ok>

We was the first team to lose on a penalty shoot out, when it was first decided a drawn match's result should be decided that way, so failure from the spot comes naturally.

Thanks mate, was a bit of nail-biter last night.

Might try and get tickets for the game at the KC this season, not been there yet.

If I don't then I'll look forward to playing you lot next season at the Lane <ok>

    1994 v P'boro was our last shoot-out win apparently.

We didn't deserve any of those 2 games.
    Good luck.

Because we struggled to beat you at WHL it wouldn't surprise me if you take points from us at your ground the name of which slips me.

Wondered the same myself. Must be some money spinning tactic from Sky. Whilst Sunderland would be the easier tie (on paper) I'll be praying for Saints obviously. Just our luck that we'd have to go to Sunderland midweek twice within the space of 2 weeks.

Must be frustrating for Saints who'll now have back-to-back away games.
