hess has confirmed we have brought ron hillyard back on a part-time basis for a couple of days a week as goalkeeper coach, due also to the fact he still has a role at ebbsfleet utd. only negative is he will not attend match days due to ebbs utd commitment...would of thought that would of been the best time of seeing our keepers and where they needed to improve etc??? with rose flitney being non league of late and a few young ones at the club as well... this can only be a good thing for us on a whole though! myself having seen him play for us think it's a good move for the club & fans alround! ronnie having a wealth of experience being a keeper & also playing for us, having played the most games in a gills shirt way over 600 app betweem 1974-1991...good bit of business andy hess, we needed a keeper coach, even better that it's someone that knows us through & through! WELCOME ON BOARD RON HILLYARD THE LEGEND!!! thoughts?
Ron Hillyard - top bloke imo, shared many a banter with him in my younger days, when he was between the sticks, a true legend
I only ever saw the back of Rons head from the Rainham End and was convinced one of the Hair Bear Bunch was in goal for Gills Welcome back Ron !!
Remember the chant going out at every game (home and away!)... Think Ronald used to get a bit embarrassed about it when there were only a handful of us singing this on a wet windy Tuesday night at Carlisle...
