What is people's impression of Welbeck? Do you prefer Giroud over Welbeck?

Personally, I think he fits our style very much. He rarely looses the ball, works hard and is unselfish (which is also his problem IMO). He should take players on a bit more, be less selfish and make decisive runs.

I prefer him over Giroud as he gives us more. But still not enough for a CF. Now I dont think we will bring in another CF for a while as we just signed Welbeck and prolonged Girouds contract.

    What do you guys think?

I wasn't that enthused when we signed him, and didn't think he was what we need.

Though I have warmed to him, and he has shown great work rate, and has finished off some moves nicely. He's got good movement outside of the box, but as you say he's too unselfish and needs to take more shots. I feel he doesn't get into the box enough, and similar to most Arsenal players, will wait outside of the box to get the ball to his feet rather then make a run into the box.

I feel we still miss parts of Girouds play, his link up play, physical presence in the box (both boxes) and how he creates chances for others in particular. But it's definitely good to have a 'horses for courses' approach, and be able to change things up. Whether this is with Wellbeck being our main striker or with Giroud, with the other getting chances in games where we need to change the style/approach.

To sum up, he's definitely done better than I thought he would, and has fitted into the team well - if he can take more shots, and score a few more then he'll be very good.

    I'm a big fan.

In may ways he has everything.. Good technique, tall, strong, quick he just needs time to develop.

If you look at it he's already doing better than Giroud from a statistical perspective: 5 goals, 1 assist in his first 8 games. But he is still getting to know his team mates and develop as an actual centre forward.

For Arsenal to REALLY truly challenge we need a World Class centre forward. That's just a reality - It's unlikely we will manage to sign one so we have to develope one:

    - Giroud is a good player but he will never ever be truly Top Class.
    - Wellbeck on the other hand at least has the potential. Still only 23 he might never get there but for me he has all the ingredients.

Really like Welbeck and I think he's already shown what he can do at Arsenal. If I had one criticism it would be that he's not yet a clinical finisher, but at 23 it's an aspect of his game that he can improve on. As mentioned the other areas of his game are really good and he could well become the complete striker. He fits the Arsenal mould really well, quick, hard working, and links up well with his team mates. I think he's got a good Arsenal career ahead of him. Thank **** we didn't go for that lazy egomaniac Balotelli

has scored more goals in EPL by Mental Mario @ Liverpool and by Fulcall @ United

and cost us £4million less than Mental Mario, and who knows what United have spunked on Fulcall

he has the right attitude, is quick, and works hard.

has already scored his first senior hat-trick and at 23 he has potential to become first class finisher if he takes more chances.

so i am very happy at the moment with his progress.

would like to see if we can play him alongside the big unit - the GMan himself - Giroud.

Really like him as a player and a person. I love how he hassles defenders and forces them into conceding possession. At the moment he tends to be double-marked because a lot of play goes through him when he drops deep. I think with Walcott back, there'll be more space for him to exploit and we should see him reap the rewards.

I like him, always did when he was at utd. Not always going to be easy for him with the 6 deep CBs a lot of teams play against us though.

I wonder how even the king would do in our current team...

Adds nothing. Will challenge for 4th with him, would have challenged for 4th without.

Seems a nice honest guy though.

Nice to see that most of you apreciate Danny, he will do very well for you. The unselfish bit comes from being played out of position and being expected to give the ball to "big name" players instead of having a go himself, his finishing will improve quickly in a central position.

waaaaaayyyyyy better than Giroud. Love his pace, mobility & work rate. Only criticism is lack of clinical finishing but I'm more than willing to give it time.

Potentially a very good player, will always run himself into the ground for the team, will never be a clinical finisher.

He's a good player but we need this and the next season to assess how good he really is. So far he is doing a good job up front and his work rate is great. But he has to be excellent and not just good. When you have world class players like Sanchez and Ozil playing with you, the person at the end needs to be of similar quality. My gut feeling is he is lacking that necessary quality to reach that level. Who knows, maybe Welbeck can take his game to another level? We will find out sooner or later.

Considering a soiled rag is better than Giroud, Welbeck doesn't have much competition. I still have doubts over Welbeck in big games, but he has far more potential than the Flowerpot
