There's a report on BBC's site that says "Bruce feels the odds are against the player returning to Wearside for another season."

We need a striker, with or without Danny - he's only scored 6 in 25 games anyway. But he's done excellent work in other ways, and he will be missed.

Any ideas on what to do?

Well, if SAF won't let Welbeck go, he can't go, it's as simple as that.

I'd rather bathe in my own **** than have Bent back.

I like Rodellega, anyone else think him and Gyan would be a good pairing?

He's good with the one touch stuff, like Danny and Gyan, i think he could be a good un, especially of Wigan drop.

Gignac as the target man :)

There's this guy. He scores a goal a game since getting his chance for England. Today, his club had five shots on target at Everton - and he buries two of them. And Sunderland - whose entire squad hasn't managed a single goal between them in over three weeks - don't want him back !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just suspect Short, Quinn and Bruce would see it a teeeeny bit differently, given the chance. So do I. I don't believe Villa will go down, but were it to happen, for the good of this club I'd take Bent back in a flash. He's the best in the business at precisely what we're desperately short of.

Incidentally master-simpson : it's been donkey's years since I was at Anstruther. Liked it very much.
