Harvey Weinstein is the new Jimmy Saville...it looks like he's had his grubby fat fingers in a lot of pies....

Tried it on with Angelina Jolie and Gwyneth Paltrow apparently. Understandable.

Not sure these are as vulnerable as the victims of Saville were they probably were using him as much as he was using them

    Still not right though

The wife of the actor who plays the rapist in ITVs The Liar, Ioan Druffudd, claims he tried it on with her. When she knocked him back he said that Druffudd would never star in any of his films.

    Slimy fugly git, me thinks.

Yes he is and was a vile man but Hollywood facilitated him as long as it suited them, the likes of Emma Thompson and Emma Watson coming out with their stance about him would cut a little bit more with me if they had more to say about the mainly Pakistani abuse gangs in this country who have done far more worse things to women, similarly Bill Clinton who seems to get a pass because he is the right kind of politician, he's a real sexual predator facilitated by Hillary because of ambition.

I don't think Pakistani abuse gangs have got anything to do with famous actresses...I'd prefer the police and other authorities to do their job regarding this and stop worrying about being labelled as racists.

Odd that on a football forum that this has got more replies than the thread about a footballer dying following a collision on a football pitch. A collision, that looked not as bad as the one between Hayden and Ritchie!

Nah, Harvey whatever the blokes name is just a knob full stop. Just a shame none of the women who are making allegations from the 1980's didn't say anything sooner and he wouldn't have managed to do it to lots of other women.

Shame that some of the men who were aware things were amiss didn't man up either. In that regard, yes it is similar to Jimmy Saville but more so the cover up.

Its the classic age-old problem of an arrogant sexual predator with power wielding it and his victims being terrified of speaking out for fear of being ridiculed and struck off. He's been accused of rape by at least three women....god knows how many others are out there. Innocent until proven guilty and all that but if he is a rapist he deserves fifteen years in sing-sing. But he'll have the best lawyers money can buy and all that...

You miss the point, these members of the great and good have an opinion about a lot of things, fracking, Trump, feminism, Tesco, education, politics and so on, yet when women in this country face serious abuse they like the police, councils and politicians said nothing.

Who knows? Maybe even Pakistani abuse gangs are beyond the 'great and the good' to have an opinion? Maybe if actresses did speak out...then maybe they'd also be ridiculed as much as what they may be for speaking out on the other topics you've mentioned above? Maybe they can't win?

In truth, I'm sure these famous actresses would denounce all Pakistani gang abuse if they were asked to. It's hardly their domain though, unless they are starring in a film or show about such things. They are speaking out now, about something in the midst of their industry. Stick to what you know, and that's what they are doing.

Casting couches go back to the silent movie era. Has it ever changed?

There's examples of fear of speaking out in many walks of life.
Here in the UK in 2017, if you whistle-blow bad practice in the NHS, you risk kissing goodbye to your career, or if you're lucky your career progression.

The power of the system could just force you to learn a new profession.

Bit of a difference - whistle blowing bad practice and alleged rape?

One of the worst abuses of power I've heard was of a football coach. This particular scumbag took an interest in a 14-year old lad and told him that in order to make it as a pro he would have to provide a sperm sample (to make sure he had 'no genetic flaws'). The pervert took the kid someone secluded in his car and made him masturbate while doing so himself. Utterly dirty scumbag. The lad was terrified but summoned up the courage and told him he would 'chop his dick off' if he continued to abuse him. Sickening.

Totally different - except the fear of speaking out.

    Yeah - all cowards.

If I knew of someone who had been raped or was a sexual abuser the police would know that second.
