We all saw the crazy story about Man Utd wanting Meslier and offering a few quid, so that he can be back up to De Gere. A joke of a story. However a story I heard a few weeks ago was touched on by Phil Hay and my ears pricked up. Hugo Loris signed a new contract with the Spuds in January to take him to 2024. He is going back to France and will end his career back home probably in Nice where he's been before. The story goes that he has been bigging up his French colleague who he’s been working with as part of the French National team. Conte is looking to future proof the club and listening to Loris. Expecting a bid from Spurs in January, so lets hope the club decide we don't need to sell. Leicester are now also rumoured to be sniffing around after losing Schmeichael Stuart McKinstry to Motherwell on a seasons loan or will we sell him as surplus to requirement? The kid came to Wetherby as a 16yo who couldn't sign with us for a couple if months until he reached 17. He moved into a flat above White Jock I believe and his dad moved down from Scotland to be with him. Into the last year of his contract have we extended his contract and loan him out or are selling him. Silence so far which makes me think his time at Leeds is over and we will be getting compensation from his new club via the kids tribunal. Young Matt Bogusz was called the best Polish player at the club, by none other than Klich. Bielsa decided to give him a go in pre season and promptly sent him out on loan to Spain. Many of us had high hopes for the kid who is still only 20yo and not been at the club for a couple of seasons now. He did come back in October after suffering an ACL injury. Hes back out on the grass and Ibiza want him back, but will we sell him or extend his contract and send him back out on loan? His stay in Ibiza has had screamers for goals, creating assists and running the midfield. Hes also wanted back in Poland by the top 3 clubs. What are peoples views on starlet Wilfried Gnonto? My own view is he could be good for the whole squad and will work well in conjunction with Gelhardt. Yes hes only 18 but a full Italian International who recognises he has much to learn because he plays in the Swiss league. He can come as 3rd striker but able to play either flank, can play on his own up top. So well capable of being top number 9 or third choice knowing he will get premier league experience. This is why they’ve been messing and talking about choosing the right player. With CDK he would have started every game either as lone striker in place of Bamford but more than likely in place of either Harrison, Rodrigo, James. However Phil Hay reckons nobody at Leeds knows anything about this? Many believe that top players will turn down a move to Leeds, but imagine being a Man Utd fan and everyone refusing to come to Old Toilet Wonder when we’ll see Poveda out of the club which will probably be a sale this time and we got him for free so all profi Another week of journo made up stories and denials and this is just a flavour of the last 4 days Gnonto Adams Sarr Goncalo Ramos Brereton-Diaz Mikelbrencis Pulisic Guerreiro Wagner Garner Heres an interesting snippet about boring, steady Wolves who seem to have done nothing much in the window yet have spent £110m so far this summer. They have also sold Morgan Gibbs-white to Forest for a big chunk of cash. The squad value of Wolves is £347m so shouldn't they be doing better? Oh and by the way Forest have now signed 17 players this summer
Thought we paid £1.1m for Poveda Doc? Forest are going **** or bust but tbh, I'm not envious of any of their signings, £44.5m for Gibbs-White is lunacy.
I don't trust (or get upset about) all these proposed signings until we get something concrete, like a medical. As has been said, these journos just throw loads of **** hoping for the views. Interesting that JM said that he's happy with the cover at LB and they would only sign a striker that they wanted.
A date for your diary The premier league transfer window closes at 11pm on 1st September Headlines at 11.01 pm will read Leeds United expected to sign xyz in the January transfer window
Freebie mate (Transfermarkt) he refused a new contract at City because he was way behind Phil Foden who was coming through at the same time, so chose Leeds over Torino and Dortmund….
Here’s a thing that’s been bugging me and I’m wondering are other clubs at the same. In past two seasons we have paid a total of 83 m bonuses for avoiding relegation. Don’t get me wrong, I realise only incentive the modern player cares about is money but this seems totally excessive and surely using half that amount for squad strengthening would surely be a better policy
Wages not as black and white as some say mate. Some on here believe Rodrigo is on £100k per week is a classic, but Leeds back load their salaries so that if they go down the wages are affordable. Makes sense but having the wage backloaded or incentivised means the players get a bonus for keeping the club up and that bonus is agreed per player as a % of their salary. The prize for staying up is massive for the club so paying a bonus to the players is a drop in the ocean…. But Rodrigo may be on £100kpwk including the bonus or he may be on £70kpwk including the bonus
Given the huge differences in what different websites state as being the salaries for Premier League clubs, its hard to try and draw a comparison, although most sites seem to acknowledge that we are one of the clubs with the lowest outgoings in respect of salaries to players However audited accounts give us some guidance to an extent. Latest year for audited accounts for clubs is 2020/21 - Just detailing staff costs for the clubs that finished in the bottom 9 positions of the premier league last season Burnley - 86m Leeds - 108m (inclusive of £40m+ bonus) Everton - 182 m Southampton - 113m Aston Villa - 166m C' Palace - 95m I haven't included Brentford in the above as they hadn't had any benefit of Premier League income. However both Watford and Norwich had been relegated the season previously and thus from their accounts you can see that Watford staff costs reduced from 92m to 68m upon relegation and Norwich staff costs reduced from 89m to 66m whilst in the Championship. So by basically paying our players a 40m bonus for the first year back in the premier league, meant we spent 20m than Norwich did the season before, when they got relegated and I can't imagine that last seasons figures would be much different. Basically 4 clubs had salaries of less than 100m in the 20/21 season ( or 19/20 season if relegated) and 3 of those clubs got relegated the season just finished.
Just wanted to get the clubs that finished close to us last season out of the way, before looking at everyone else Player salaries for 20/21 season for the rest of the Premier League Newcastle - 107m (under Mike Ashley) Wolves - 140m Brighton -110m Leicester - 159m West Ham - 130m Scum - 322m Arsenal 244m Spurs - 205m Chelsea - 332m Liverpool - 314m Man City - 354m The average salary shown in audited accounts for the 20/21 season for the clubs who competed in the Premier League last season(not counting Brentford, Watford and Norwich) was just over 186m, so we are 78m below the average, and realistically about 40m below what would be deemed a comfortable mid table finish. Final League Table of 20/21 season (plus salary) 1.Man City - 354m 2. Scum - 322m 3. Liverpool - 314m 4. Chelsea - 332m 5. Leicester - 159m 6.West Ham - 130m 7.Spurs - 205m 8.Arsenal - 244m 9.Leeds - 108m 10.Everton - 186m 11.A Villa - 166m 12.Newcastle - 107m 13.Wolves - 140m 14.C Palace - 95m 15.Southampton -113m 16.Brighton 110m 17.Burnley 86m 18.Fulham 113m 19.WBA - 77m 20. Sheff Utd - 57m I'd say the 3 teams in bold over achieved that season, based on the salaries they paid to players, whilst the teams in purple underachieved. Last seasons position for ourselves was probably more realistic in terms of what the players are paid Just to complete the picture, the 3 clubs who got relegated that season spent the following on player salaries Fulham - 113m WBA - 77m Sheff Utd - 57m So if you take away the 40m bonus that we paid the players, we actually spent 9m less than WBA who got relegated that season, and Fulham spent more than us, even after the bonus we paid.
Aski Hope Eire feels a lot better now because the bonus number has corrupted the way some fans think. A few weeks ago I did some digging on Dembele at Barcelona because of some of the posts myself and Este were doing on the Raphinha transfer etc. Dembele was quoted as earning £360k per week, £300k, £240k, £190k and £164k which includes win bonus, starting bonus, goals bonus, assist bonus. So which publication do you believe. Elland for example will always find a publication saying Rodrigo on £100kpwk because it suits his clickbait mind but surely when we can see the accounts a year in arrears if the staff and players wages are seperated just average them instead of picking out the disliked players….
Yes gobby he said the dominoes were going to fall and what does that mean? Fkg pointless even looking at your posts sometimes, I try my fkg best but you really are fkg hard work
I listened to that part of the interview and marsch never mentioned any player by name as a target. Lighten up cupcake you will burst a blood vessel you daft eejit.
Forget these young kids Orta ffs, we have got enough, we want a striker and LB NOW, or it’s going to be a carbon copy from last season and the faithful deserve better.
Rodrigo is on 100k a week, it is common knowledge on every source you look up, I really don't understand why you won't accept that figure. He was on £113k a week at Valencia
This is why I used figures from audited accounts to get an overall value of players salaries, because when I did a search for Leeds United Player salaries, I received 3 different answers from the first 5 sites that appeared from a Google search ranging from 58k per week to 120k per week, and yet all those 5 sites agree that Dan James earns 50k per week. So whilst I wouldn't disagree that Rodrigo is on £100k per week, I wouldn't say it is common knowledge on every source you look up, because I got conflicting information. This is what prompted me to look at audited accounts for the Premier League clubs to enable me to respond to Eire's query in the best way that I considered would be meaningful, without having to discuss individual players salaries, because I find it difficult to trust the information provided by the sites that purport to be in the know The sites below are the first that appeared in my Google search, some sites mirror others with the information they provide, but neither the sites names nor the "about us" page inspires confidence that the information they provide is correct. https://www.soccersouls.com/leeds-united-player-wages/ - Appears to be an online newspaper, where content creators can post articles. The Leeds article is posted by Sudip Talukder. However under their menu heading of teams, we are listed as being a Championship Club ?? https://www.spotrac.com/epl/leeds-united-fc/payroll/ - states been running since 2007 and is largest site regarding players contracts in a variety of sports. This I felt would be the best choice and yet when you look at the data how can you trust it, they had KP down as earning 4.5k per week ?? https://salarysport.com/football/premier-league/leeds-united/ - states they trawl the internet to get the information from reliable sources https://www.capology.com/club/leeds/salaries/ - There "about us" page shows you pictures of the 3 founders and the FAQ says We source salary data from all over the web, news, social, industry experts, and a network of sources who help us verify player salaries around the world https://www.thenationalnews.com/spo...ho-are-the-highest-paid-stars-at-elland-road/ - Appears to be an online newspaper, probably gets their data from a combination of the sites mentioned above https://soccerprime.com/leeds-united-fc-player-salaries/ - Run by a 24 year old American football coach called Connor https://sillyseason.com/money/salary/leeds-united-players-salaries-126694/ - A football fan owned site, requiring readers to create content. The guy who wrote our article goes by the name of Sillypen https://www.totalsportal.com/money/contacts/leeds-united-players-salaries/ - A team of three experienced bloggers. They state Rodrigo earns 62.5k, Bamford earns 31.5k and Tyler Roberts is on 45k, so their data is again difficult to trust and yet have our annual salary at approx 50m. Article written by Syed Jafar, who states he mainly covers cricket, but has also written about golf, darts and snooker ???? I would say all of the above are either so way off with their data to be next to useless, or else are no different to the clickbait sites that all report the same news.
