Carlos Corberan is doing a great job at the academy and sees his U23 team at the top of the league by 5 points, although played a game more than rival Burnley and 2 more than Birmingham. We are still however at least 2 points clear if they win games in hand. Looking good https://www.flashscores.co.uk/football/england/professional-development-league/standings/ Leeds Utd U18s are 2nd at the moment 2 points off the top but have been in pole position most of the season so looking like the future is bright for the Leeds Utd Academy and the prospects of the first team as long as we have continuation, succession management and investment. I say this because Victor Orta went after Carlos Corberan because he knew his work and because Pep also recommended him. Corberan arrived in June 2017 and set about dismantling and rebuilding and that meant Orta went to Spain, Holland and even Bulgaria to snap up young talent from Ajax, Real Madrid and Barcelona, which meant existing players like Billy Whitehouse, Robbie McDaid were released. The U23s performance was pretty woeful but green shoots were starting. In June 2018 the master arrived and had already done analysis of the Academy and performance. Victor Orta had gone out again and picked up more young talent. Bielsa re-engineered the Academy set-up and released some coaches, but wanted Corberan to stay and as head Coach for the U23s but also gave him the role of first team coach. In the event of Bielsa walking away in the Summer it's expected that Carlos will take over and carry on doing what Bielsa had implemented, rather than a new Heckingbottom coming in a destroying everything built. Another big positive this Winter has been the arrival of Matesuz Bogusz, a 17yo kid who is an attacking No10. This kid is only 17 but will play for the U23s and he made his debut last night playing all 90 minutes. He was outstanding and getting rave revues from all the Leeds fans who went to watch, and there were many. Indeed Carlos Corberan hailed the kid as a very special talent. No doubt he will make his debut in the first team this season, oh and he doesn't look 17, he's a powerful unit. Beradi played an hour last night so his fitness is improving and Douglas played 45 minutes and looked out of sorts, but obviously on his way back. No Izzy Brown which can only mean he's on the bench today. Ryan Edmondson came on for the 2nd half and I expect him also on the bench today, he had a great game and almost scored a worldy to win the match late on. Great to see the kid getting his fitness and hunger back, especially as Clarke will be missing for another couple of weeks. So lets hope for a great result today and maybe a couple of losses for the main opposition. Hoping that our 10 day break has a positive effect and not the opposite. I don't often mention women's football but felt sorry for everyone at Charlton yesterday when a well respected 19yo keeper sadly died, no age at all. David De Gere sent her a pair of signed gloves a few days ago wishing her a speedy recovery, but sadly she lost her battle.
Terrible news about the keeper. Morning all going to head to town soon and get my accys on and hit the pub. Every games a just win from now on but we need to regain the top spot today and hopefully send a message out that we can also produce 4 0 results and are not running out of steam
L the bandit known as Ken Anderson will be selling Bolton very soon to another consortium. Anderson will walk away quids in with the new owners picking up the debts, including HMRC. They are now doing Due Dilligence so expect the deal done within a few weeks. Phil Parkinson's behaviour yesterday can be explained because of whats going on in the background. Players not being paid, Parkinson himself stumping up his own money for certain things. However when will the FA/EFL do their jobs and sort out crap owners. Instead of fining clubs for NOT BREAKING rules why not chuck out the crap and ensure ghe crap can never get back in
Oh and the consortium taking over at Bolton has been put together by Mark Warburton. So will he take over the management role or do a Director of Football role or be CEO?
Remember where Warburton came from Gessa, he was a high flyer in the City I think he was a Trader. He did footy in his spare time and got so good at it that Brentford (New moneymen) wanted him to take over. He took a massive pay cut to do and was very good at it and got them promoted..... he has the contacts to put a consortium together and guess they would be happy to back him running the football side. On the management front prepare to see Brenden Rodgers take over at the Foxes and probably Moyes taking over Celtic
Kicked off after Klick poured water over a Bolton player then walked away and left it to kick off. could get into trouble mind.
