Morning all Its match day and its a biggie Plenty to talk about from the last week including differing views on it been a good/bad tranny window The Dan James debacle Orta and his strike record Tom Pearce going out on loan before confirmation that James was signed Sam Dalby going out on loan because he is probably one of Ortas best signings and I for one will be looking for the Morecambe results today because Oldham visit and they have just signed a striker on loan from Man Utd who was supposed to be the next big thing. However his progression under Jose' stopped him and be good to compare Dalby and the kid from scum. The kid is called Zak Dearnley and I have been aware of him for 6 years. zak is now 20 but Dalby is younger and think better. What will todays result mean if its win, lose or draw U23s play today and could go 9 points clear. Will Bamford be playing?, will Berardi play and will Brown do another 90 minutes. Will we see the new Polish kid
Today is massive, I still think it's more mustn't lose lose rather than must win, don't want to go to Boro for a must win. Whatever happens though, still many twists and turns to come, a win today though will settle the nerves somewhat and will give us a good gap to third. Hopefully Pearce's loan sees him kick on, it was only the end of last season we were up in arms that we could be selling him to Everton, now he struggles to get on the bench and is out on loan . Dalby is certainly looking like he's one for the future, a good loan could help his progress. Hopefully all 4 get a game, which they should.
Gessa I was reading something Alan Nixon said yesterday about the top 6 and he reckons after that transfer window Boro will not make to 6. When you think about clubs with parachute money and some of the best squads, you have to say that so far huge disappointments are: Stoke Hull Villa Swansea Forrest QPR Nixon reckons the table will finish like this: WBA Leeds Norwich Sheff U Derby Blackburn
I agree with him Doc, Stoke looked like they would go straight back up but have been hugely disappointing , Villa more so I'd say, Bruce really is a spent force in football, too late for Smith to turn things around. The top 6, I think I'd swap Blackburn out for Bristol City, who I'd put 5th and Derby 6th, even though I'd prefer Derby not to make them.
U23s win a hard fought draw with in form Birmingham City. 2-2 with goals from Stevens to take the lead and a very late equaliser from Izzy Brown in the 96th minute. Good result and we go 7 points clear for now
I'd forget all about not getting Daniel James if Boro beat WBA today and we beat Norwich, those two results would be a 10 point gap from WBA and Boro, I know Sheff U are in the mix however (at the moment) I only see the top three as being between us, Norwich and WBA.
On the back of the James fiasco, watching the 3rd goal go through our keepers legs, this feels very painful
Adam Pope@apopey 40m40 minutes ago Swansea chairman quits please log in to view this image Adam Pope@apopey Jenkins fought tooth and nail to keep James at Swansea whereas it seemed the owners were keen to sell. Makes you wonder if that was the final straw knowing that he was poles apart from the Americans above him.
Krul headbutts Bamford at the end of the match, will the EFL do anything. Great to see Bamford back and looking like goals Staying off twitter until Monday as it's like suicide squad with some Leeds fans
One things for sue, we can’t afford too many more of those. Will need at least ten quality performances in remaining matches. Far higher than recent average
Lennon? And yet only a few days ago Bielsa made it perfectly clear that he has enough experience - he wants youth. This was said in the context of James being a target. I can just imagine LL mis-reading it & hoping it's that Yaxley-Lennon guy we're signing.
