http://www.owlstalk.co.uk/forums/index.php/topic/189874-wickham/ "Thought he was absolutely superb when he came on, changed the game." "Definitely a class above!" "Good first touch, strong and has an awareness of what's going on around him. I know they have signed Graham but Sunderland have struggled for goals other than from Fletcher all season, surprised he can't get more of a look in for them." "Well impressed." "Head and shoulders above anyone to pull that famous blue and white shirt on for a while." "Different gravy end of" "I stated yesterday that Wickham isn't that good a player. I was wrong." "He's top class." "Fantastic debut, strong great 1st touch, got to be in the team against brum for me, linked up very well with Lita at times." "He'll be playing for England one day."
Gutted he went out on loan. He is a good player and a different kind of player who can give our team a different dimension at times. I think Sunderland are becoming a little predictable right now..our plan B is really not that different to plan A. Just hope he comes back and gets game time. I fear we are looking at another Ally McCoist situation here.
I think this is a win-win for us if im honest. Wickham gets more experience and game time, with it comes confidence and then he comes back to us a better player. I don't think he is going to be prolific but a battering ram, yes. Though the year's MON has loved them types of players, so clearly Wickham aint ready yet for the full 90 mins. Hopefully with this loan he will get closer to what everyone believes he can become.
He could of found his level? I hope this loan helps him improve as I fear MON doesn't rate the lad which is a shame. For me he has blown both hot and cold and that maybe down to lack of game time but in the prem time is something most teams don't have.
This loan is ideal, he's gonna get game time and hopefully some goals then come back to us at the end of march
I have to disagree there, just compare how many Premier League goals the two players have scored over the last two seasons (I know Wickham has had less game time but still...)
I don't think Connor will wish to wait much longer for a starting role at SAFC and it's clear that MON has made his choice with Danny Graham. Unless MON starts to play two strikers I feel that Connor will be wanting out. I doubt Connor will sign a new contract as he has already made his money. Incredibly, Connor may end up leaving for pennies.
I think DGs experience will help us out initially but I honestly think Connor is a star in the making. More experience and game time will hopefully see us getting a very good player for a number of years.
All good valid points above. Comes back having got game time..yes Comes back and gets a game....no Comes back having gained confidence...yes Comes back and quickly loses it (due to no games).....yes Only chance he will get is injuries, he will be away or a season loan next year.
