After yesterday's successful start to the league campaign I wonder how Buckle will approach selection for Wednesday against Watford. There is the argument that you don't change a winning team. Momentum is important and you want players to get more and more used to playing together. The league is the overwhelming priority, but progress in a cup means revenue, and excites the fans. On the other hand the players whom Buckle brought in but did not start on Saturday will need to feel that they made the right decision to come here. Buckle needs to know what his options are when injuries and suspensions take their toll. He may find out, if he makes changes, that his selection for that first match can be improved upon. Finally, Wednesday's match is the first home match of the season, and Buckle will surely want the fans to go home happy. I think he will make a few changes; it will be in keeping with what he has said to show that everyone is in with a chance of being selected. I don't think though that he will in any way send out a weaker team. So I think he will keep Bevan in goal. At the back Bolger might get a start at CB. Boateng might make the bench. In midfield Carayol might start instead of Anyinsah or Zebroski; and Lines might start instead of Stanley. Up front Kuffour instead of McGleish (not sure about that one) So I'd go for: Bevan Smith Bolger Virgo L Brown Zebroski Lines Gill Carayol Harrold Kuffour/McGleish Subs: Anthony, Stanley, Boateng, Kuffour/McGleish, Anyinsah (is it 5 or 7 subs for the Carling Cup?)
i think kuffour should start and rest mcgleish for torquay. have mclaggon on the bench. i agree bolger should start for anthony, lines for stanley, carayol for anyinsah. also i would play wayne brown for zebroski and boateng for smith. bevan boateng - bolger - virgo - l brown w-brown - lines - gill - carayol harrold - kuffour subs cronin, anthony, smith, swallow, stanley, richards, mclaggon i think its 7 subs for the cup
