http://www.soccerbase.com/referees/referee.sd?referee_id=1058 This is the guy for the3 Birmingham game - have we had him before (I don't follow refs - they are a distraction at the best of times!). He seems to be a bit of a 'don't **** with me' sort of guy and Sarf Yorkshire at that. Some say it evens out, but do you think we have been damaged by referees - we have some horrors of late! What's the worse you can recall? Like I said, I don't really register them that much, I think players have to win the game, so I would be interested on other views.
Ah they speak like the cockneys in South Yorkshire now, eh? Dunno about refs but one of the worst lineswomen in history is that Sian Massey. Deffo smash it though
It was refreshing to see some sensible refereeing for a change on Saturday, none of this card waving and stopping the game for every challenge. No specific names or games come to mind but I know we've been on the wrong end of some stupid decisions, and even the opposition coud have felt aggrieved by some of the decisions refs have made against them. We had **** refs back in the premiership, notice the guy who had a horror game when refereeing our game at Burnley in the Permier League got on the wrong side of both Newcastle and Man United fans the other week and Stuart Attwell was being criticised in one of the Sunday papers.
Atwell should be up there for his part in the phantom goal.
Yes refs can make a big difference. The one on Saturday allowed the game to flow and as such we were able to express our natural footballing dominance over the lesser side. Many other refs would have been all annoying and slowed it down all game meaning Koren wouldn't have had that shot at the end. A good ref makes a good game. The worst refereeing displays regarding City were obviously Mike Jones at Burnley but also Anthony Taylor at home to Charlton in 2007. He disallowed a Hughes tap-in for a foul on the 'keeper by Windass, when actually the 'keeper had fouled him. He then allowed a Charlton goal with Luke Varney sat on Myhill preventing him from getting off the floor not 10 minutes later and then sent Ash off for a perfectly good tackle, simply because Lloyd Sam threw a massive paddy about the challenge.
