‎4 for me tomorrow 3.20 Towcester Red Lancer FC 10/1 NB 4.30 Nottingham Amistress 16/1 4.35 Navan Johns Legend FC 33/1 7.40 Kempton Bewilder 10/1 NAP Red Lancer - Looked a likely winner 2 starts back wearing first time blinkers off todays mark when falling 2 out over 2m4f and it caught my eye in a big way. LTO he was pulled up over 3m and the bare result of this is better than it seems. He travelled very nicely for the vast majority of the race but made what seemed like an energy sapping mistake and was eased afterwards. The return to 2m is interesting and I'm willing to have a play in a Class 5 event with the blinkers retained. Amistress - Put in a very good display when finishing a 1L 4th two starts back in a race where the form looks pretty good. LTO Amistress met a lot of trouble in running and was spared a hard race at Bath and this C+D winner looks much too big at 16/1 having won off only a 5lb lower mark. Johns Legend - This is a bit of a stab in the dark but this should be a monstrous price, bigger than the 33/1 forecast, and I think is certainly worth a play. Although Desmond McDonogh doesn't have too many winners, this 2 year old debutant's jockey booking of Willy Supple is hugely eye catching. Supple has only had one ride for this stable before which resulted in a 33/1 winner so McDonogh getting a jockey of Supple's stature would seem to indicate this may be a decent prospect. Its interesting that this gelding is bred for speed and is starting out at what looks a stamina stretching 1m. McDonogh has never had a winner at Navan before which is a worry but as Johns Legend will surely start a 3 figure price on the exchanges Supples booking is enough for me to have a small bet. Bewilder - The 10/1 available with Willy Hill seems much too big and the money around for him already is a good sign. After a poor start to his career, Bewilder stepped up hugely on his AW debut over C+D last month when finishing 2.25L behind Spirit of the Law with the front two drawing well clear. The winner that day has franked the form by losing by a head off a 10lb higher mark so it seems to me he certainly ran into a well handicapped rival. The 4lb rise is not excessive and with 2 rivals tomorrow winning on their only starts its quite possible they have been assigned too high opening handicap marks. Bewilder represents Gosden's only runner tomorrow and with another entry on Saturday this could possibly be the start of a quick fire double
Sunset Stanza 5.35 Navan Ran poorly last time out in a bog. Now gets slightly better ground and a good draw. 7/2 bog. - now not going to bother as the ground looks like it will be on the softer side of soft with more rain expected this afternoon. Stickhas stuck up Numerology in the bumper at Towcester. It seemed like more of an observation than a solid selection so don't blame him or me for that matter if it doesn't win
Good morning to all... Not much again that gets the eye today... Ludlow and Towcester look like a favourites day today, and some short favourites they have to...!!! But i like the look of... 2.10 Ludlow - Baccalaurate, 2/1 3.10 Luldow - Cootehill, 4/1 Both to be ridden by Sam Twisters and the only two rides he has here today... Baccalaurate is one that ive stuck with over the past 7-8 runs and ive scored a few times and lost, as we all do, but i feel he has a great chance here. Won on his last visit here over CD and im having another go... Cootehill ran in the Jewson Novices' Chase at Cheltenham back in march, fiinshing well back, and this is obviously a drop in class all round. He returns from a 140 day break and i think the easier mark will be enough for him to get into the winners enclosure for the start of the new season... Good luck to all who play today...
Hello lads. More moderate offerings today. The exception could be the 2-y-o maidens at Navan, notably the fillies event which features a 3/4 sister to Pour Moi,Kissed,a full sister to Jan Vermeer called Hasten and an Aga Khan newcomer whose dam was a full sister to Sinndar. Definately one to sky plus. GL anyone having a go.
Afternoon, people. Well the exciting news is that Tom Symonds (Mr Henderson's former assistant) has his first runners as a trainer tomorrow! In God's own county, Devon, he saddles Tweedledrum (2.20) and Strathcal (4.20) at Exeter with Denis O'Regan partnering both. Tomorrow promises to be a monumental one in the history of horse racing, methinks. A real 'where were you when' moment.
Warwick Avenue makes his debut in the 4.35 at Navan today. His full brother has just been sold to the same connections at Tatts for 520,000...is that a tip?
Taken from Ger Lyons Facebook page "Only the one runner today at Navan. Cool Kid is a lovely big horse who has a knee action so should handle soft ground. If he does he'll run very well. Same family as Frederick Engels" Cool Kid runs in the last race at Navan and is 25/1. From my experience Ger is one of the most honest and spot on trainers in relation to his horses and as a result Cool Kid must have a great chance at a lovely price. Johns Legend is currently a best priced 80/1 so I can't say no at the price!
Big plunge on Pour Moi's 3/4 sister at Navan...11/8 in a 17 runner soft ground maiden...hmmmm...we'll soon see if that was value or not!
http://greenford.ealinggazette.co.uk/2011/09/van-toppled-and-smashed-parked.html Someone emailed me that story. You wouldn't toteplace it would you
"The driver didn't admit liability and I've had to rent a hire car. It's a nightmare." How can the driver not be liable when his van topples onto a parked car? Maybe his argument went something along the lines of "If this was a 1965 Peugeot I would have been out of the street much quicker AND carrying 17 more boxes in the back." E.O.S.
Nass: Totally awesome and hilarious Been under the weather with 'man flu' but that certainly has warmed the cockles
