I've spotted one that I like quite a bit in the form of Ferdy Murphy's Sophonie 14/1 in the 2.00 at Wetherby. This 5 year old mare is a French import and joined her current yard last year and has had 4 starts for Murphy to date. She showed some pretty decent form over in France boasting a win and a narrow defeat in 2nd on her two chase starts over there. She made her debut for Murphy back in October last year and was beaten by 0.5L over hurdles. On her next start for the yard, she fell when appearing to still hold every chance two out and on her final effort over hurdles for the yard she disappointed back in January of this year. Sophonie then had a 10 month break and made her reappearance over fences at Kelso earlier this month, her first effort in the sphere for her current yard, and although she finished a well beaten 10th she was a big eye catcher in my eyes. She travelled ominously well into the race and looked to have every chance until 2 out before she emptied very quickly. Its quite clear to me that she badly needed that run and she should strip much fitter as a result. She races here off what I think could perhaps be a very lenient mark of 111 considering her French exploits and I think this unexposed mare can certainly get involved at the business end of the race with her reappearance run under her belt. Although she steps up to a Class 3 for the first time and it will more than likely be her toughest test to date, I think it is a strong indication that Ferdy thinks that she is definitely a better horse than her bare form figures suggest since arriving in England. ‎3.15 Lingfield Beaubrav 25/1 looks quite an interesting runner at a nice price. Has an absolutely fantastic record at Lingfield boasting 4 wins and a second from his 5 runs at the track earlier in the year and a record of 6 wins and a place from 10 runnings at the track in his career. He's been in poor form since his latest victory at the track in April but that effort was off his current mark of 91 so he certainly appears well enough weighted to play a role if bouncing back to his best, although this was a 4 runner affair whose form I wouldn't trust as being set in stone. Jim Crowley is an eye catching booking for this 5 year old as he was on board for his latest to victories at the track. Crowley has ridden for trainer Michael Madgwick 4 times - all on this animal - and thus boasts an impressive 50% strike rate. I won't be investing heavily but I certainly think if back to his best he can definitely outrun his odds, especially with a bit of money around already.
Morning all, For the record, peanut butter on pumpkin and sesame seed toast. Then copious amounts of caffeine. Nothing betting wise, because I couldn't back a winner in a two horse race.
Morning all 3 EWs at Wetherby I got music, part owned by major owner of BPG, today is the day this gets in the frame Victor Lynch, richie on for mum in law will go well and place claims Woody Waller, james on for wadey, would have gone on Kirbys if he did not think this had claims all EW prices, singles and a Round Robin Stay Frosty
Morning all some snippets of info 1:40 Ling - Widyaan - is slow 2:10 Ling - All That Rules is nice and worth a go @ 2/1 3:45 Ling - Princess Lexi is fancied @ 3/1 and ran a nice race lto. Other fancies I have: 1:55 Cork - Pinrea De Re @ 7/2 12:55 Weth - Fists Of Fury @ 7/4 Good Luck all
Morning all. An intersting one could be TOBELUCKYENOUGH Weth 12.55 - probably no bet but I'll be following this one. SABLAZO Font 1.15 PORGY Font 12.40 LUGGERS HALL Weth 2.35 I may follow Bluesky's 3 x doubles & double stake on my treble. JINKSY MINX Font 2.55 - scope for improvement. Best work at end of races 2 miles in slightly better class. 5/2 fav when in this class but UR. PU first time out on Heavy - so hopefully now back in C5, come on for opening run and better ground will give it an EW chance - 12/1 available.
Afternoon, people. Having looked at today's cards I'll nominate: Hazy Tom (1.30 Wetherby) - my regular readers will know how highly I rate this gelding who is now unbeaten in 4 starts. Despite it not going completely fluently, last time at Aintree, Hazy Tom won a decent novice event on his hurdling bow. Despite being penalised for that win and the presence of a useful looking Irish raider I take Hazy Tom to maintain his 100% record this afternoon. Long term he could be the 'flagship' horse to propel Charlie Longsdon (Mr Henderson's former assistant) to the next level. Good luck to all, say I.
Hello lads. Nothing for me as yet. Tbh i haven't had a look yet.I'm still in a state of complete shock after watching all those birds getting fingered on Masterchef before the 9.00 watershed.
Nass - there's a 3 horser coming up at Fontwell - chance to test yourself! The outsider of 3 is a well known racing cliche, but if Tavalu wins this I'll run stark bollock naked down Newmarket High Street
