An ew Lucky 15 and a couple of singles today for me at Goodwood. 1.50 Pleasant Man 2.25 Dandalla 3.00 Swayze 3.35 Century Dream Singles on Pleasant Man & Swayze. Good luck with yours all, have a good day
Goodwood 1.50 Irish Legend Well regarded by connections with an entry for a group 2 at York next month. Ran well in 3rd on soft ground at Ascot 2 runs ago. It could be that quicker going didn't suit last time out. Hugo Palmer has his yard in excellent form at the moment. At 16/1 on offer worth a small each way bet.
Two more in Galway 16,35 Socially Distant 12/1 e/w five places, 10/1 with Sky six places 17,15 Suprise package 13/2 with PP, others 6/1
Goodwood Day 2 1st race looks very competitive - each way bet on Kolisi 2.25 Form working out well for Highfield Princess, but i also expect Bounce the Blues to go very close 3.35 Poetic Flare should go ok on the ground and is a class above the rest. 4.10 La Feile has won on soft and may well do again today.
Perth 2.00 Istimraar Often runs well at Perth. His 2nd behind the much improved Hitman Fred 2 runs ago at Perth was a really good performance. Not so good at Cartmel last time out but maybe track and distance didn't suit. Today back over 3 m will be more to his liking. Just 1lb above last winning mark.
I thought he would have won his last run with a clear passage so was surprised to see him dropped a couple lb for that. They learned from the last run and he won easily enough with a clear run today.
Late to the party, these are my telly terrors (with apologies for the aftertimed 1st one) GW 150 Nagano 225 Bounce The Blues 300 Fearby 335 Poetic Flare 410 Cannonized
Poetic Flare was magnificent last time out but has had an off day in France in his CV. Mac Swiney got the better of him in the Irish Guineas on soft and he encounters that sort of ground again today. Snow Lantern gained revenge over Alcohol Free last time out on a fast surface but it wasn't by far and the Balding filly had the upper hand when they met of soft at Ascot. With the ground back to soft now, I feel Alcohol Free may get the better of it today. I just wonder how strong the race actually was when Poetic Flare won last time. It hasn't been working out so far and I decided to take the Bolger colt on with the surface softer than might be ideal for him. Alcohol Free seems sure to run well and I have popped Snow Lantern in for a reverse forecast. 3.35 Goodwood Alcohol Free 4/1 Alcohol Free/Snow Lantern RF
6.15 The Galway Plate is always targeted for its valuable prize. Examining this handicap, it seems that Joseph O’Brien fancies his chances by running the in-form Top Moon and Darasso, as well as Home By The Lee and Assemble. Assemble looks the real dark horse of the race. After chasing home Envoi Allen at levels, he was given a mark of 144 against the winners 163, both of which may be too low and too high respectively. Ironically, Assemble then proceeded to fall twice in his next two runs before conceding 15lbs to today’s favourite, The Shunter, at the Cheltenham Festival- finishing fifth behind that winner, beaten 7 lengths. Today, accounting for their respective jockeys’ claims, he meets The Shunter on 27 lbs better terms. Given a clear round- and it may be a “big if,” he looks to have an outstanding chance as the best handicapped horse in the race. Assemble. Best price 16/1 Paddy Power (6 places).
There are quite a few jockeys masquerading as 'top jockeys'.... add Spencer to the list .. why oh why do you go to him as substitute for Leavy on Snow Lantern..
