An interesting day's racing with 7 2yo races, with 5 of them full of unraced types. Pity it wasn't a bit warmer and the paddock being in the shade all afternoon didn't help.
Best performance of the day was Rainbow Heart, who could be a filly who could go right to the top next year. Best performance, maybe it was by a horse but Gerald Mosse winning 3 races with a combined winning distance of less than a neck (2 noses and a head) was pretty impressive. With Gerald's impressive Gallic snoz maybe it's not surprising.
I was also mighty impressed by his middle winner, Ginistrelli. A very impressive, in fact beautiful, colt. I'd think veteran Gerald must be getting excited that this relative of Fame and Glory and Legatissimo could be a Derby colt for this fine French jockey. Definitely the best-looking 2yo of the day, though his nearest opponent (and in the same race) Faylaq was pretty impressive too: one for the future.
Beckett's horses and especially his 2yos are running very consistently and well. In the big race of the day he had two runners who finished 1st and 2nd, and his unraced colt in the last was well backed and kept Ginistrelli on his toes. Skymax the winner of the £40,000 Nursery is definitely a gutsy colt, but so is Mark Johnston's Nayef Road. He could be a leading stayer next year.
Other than that I stand by my earlier comments and would add Balding's newcomer Bell Rock. A Kingman colt out of a half-sister to 1000G winner Speciosa could be a force at 8f next year if she goes the right way. Kingman could end up the leading Juddmonte sire at this tate.
