I read on Mr Henderson's stable tour for Cheltenham that he is sending Thomas Campbell to the Pertemps - isn't that all we need to know?

Presenting Percy won with quite a bit in hand before going on to win at Cheltenham- when I say bolt up I mean it lightly as in pushed out in hands and heels over a couple of lengths! This horse imo has a lot in hand over his current mark so bit of a confidence boost and the noises coming out of the yard this horse is if not as good as PP

This could be my heart ruling my head but Popelys Gull 4/1 in 3 30 Ludlow, Pam Sly is selective with her targets, and does well here, this is a progressive young chaser who is by no means exposed, faces a couple of decent opponents, but surely has more to offer!

If you read enough of my bumper drivel you will probably know many of the positive and negative signs that I look for and tomorrow in the 4:30 Doncaster we have a horse that hits most of my negative markers and it is 7/4 favourite and therefore making the race for me. As outlined on a seperate thread, the winner apart, the Ascot bumper isnt producing the results one would expect so with penalties taken into account thats two more that get a line through them.
I dont usually like Irish point to point form either but STOP THE WORLD ran into a horse I really like in his p2p and his half brother won his bumper on debut for Willie Mullins by ten lengths. He gets the nod.
In the second and much weaker looking division I am going for ROOSTER COGBURN. I think this one is gradually improving and Emma Lavelle has an excellent strike rate at the track in bumpers. He hasnt quite got home in two efforts thus far but should be strengthening up with each run, the booking of Gavin Sheehan is a big plus.

The 2.25 at Ludders tomorrow is a four runner race where surely the madcap Rayvin Black will have enough class to see off these. Priced up at 7-2 currently it is a very sporting bet.

By the way - I wasn't always a peasant - I used to drive a mercedes and own my own home.

Rather intrigued to see that novice specialist and most excellent jock Daryl Jacob is on the outsider of Henderson's two in the Donny 1.40 French Crusader seems the obvious pick at 2/1, but Du Destiny's 20/1 in several places is somewhat tempting with Daryl as pilot. Is Henderson above having a sneaky touch? Methinks not. Wonder what other's reflections are on this race.

Tough race that one Rudey. A case could be made for all of them. My dosh goes on Federici @ 7/2. He has run some fantastic races in defeat this season and wouldn't be winning out of turn. Those at Aintree and Doncaster were far better races than this one and a repeat of either of those runs ought to be enough. Interesting that they bring a decent amateur over from Ireland too. Good luck all.

Sure chan, it's competitive, but I'm relying on the what might be, rather than what has been! I notice she also runs Bonnets Vino in the last, b goes very well fresh, has trip, ground and tight right hand track to suit, I'll need to back that as well 8/1*

Two for me today don 5.00 daydream aulumes like this trainer/jockey combo, have a chance in the other bumper but this is their best. Lud 3.00 wildmoor boy, been off for a year but looked progressive a while back winning a competitive handicap at Cheltenham . Once again like the trainer/jockey/combo.

Just musings here, not a tip, on bare form its somewhat hard to fancy either of Ruth Carr's two but I'm interested in how they both get on. The price is far too short for me on her new recruit and Abushamah looks an odd entry in a 7f after being off so long with little to suggest he goes well fresh. As far as entries go, Ruth has had an unusually quite winter. Understandably as a flat trainer this is her off season but something strikes me as being slightly off.
This time last year the yard was far more active. Not banging in the winners by any means, but steadily ticking over and *ahem* getting her modest fleet primed and ready for the flat season. Is this a quiet winter prep or was that a relatively intensive one?

If memory serves she had a cracking treble around Lincoln day last year, then a somewhat quiet summer, before practically disappearing from the scene entirely for the jumps season.

Hope everythings okay at the yard. Some of her new recruits look interesting and unsurprisingly are exactly the "type" she's known to do well with like this chap in the 2nd last at Newcastle (lost his way after being gelded).

Hopefully we get to see more of them out once Ruth has had time to do whatever it is she does.

Interesting Hunter 'Chase in Doncaster. Pacha Du Polder makes his season debut after almost a year out and in theory he would have to win easily and get in shape to revalidate his triumph last year at the Cheltenham Foxhunter. That said, the jockey who plays him today makes his debut under rules and I do not know if the nerves will make an appearance no matter how superior the horse is. Kilfinichen Bay and Hard Station also do a lot that do not run and it's hard to trust them. Ardea 5/1 has the form to its favor and with a good jockey on it can perhaps surprise.

Du Destin now out to 33s generally, 40s with SJ, 45 on exchange. Absolutely friendless. Nonetheless I shall have a teensy e/w interest.
