Taunton 353 The height of fame 11/4 (small bet for interest) 5 timer on , defying the handicapper for fun and the step up in trip could and should go well
If racng goes ahead at Lingfield tomorrow (Wednesday) like the chance of Grandeur D'Ame in the 14:30, a Handicap Chase over 2m . Decent overall form and should be suited by distance, and hopefully will handle the expected heavy ground conditions. Tom Cannon rides for the Alan King yard. 5/1 (Bet365) best price at time of writing.
YES INDEED 8/1 Hereford 1:15 Where do I start? The horse is a listed winner in France for Guillaume Macaire and has has 4 runs now in Britain for Jonjo O'Neill. The only time it ran a decent race here was at Newbury in a novices handicap chase where he was second to Nestor Park. When he started out for Jonjo he was rated 142, his run behind Nestor Park was off 136 and earned him a one pound hike. He has now dropped to 133. The most interesting fact in all this though is that the Newbury run was the only one on his favoured soft ground, conditions that he will get tomorrow. Another positive is the yard form in chases at Hereford which is a staggering seven wins from eleven runs. Opened at 11's which would have been nice but still looks a good bet at 8's. The yard could well have the bumper winner too, they are 2/2 in NHF races here including this fella, MAGIC SEVEN, who bolted up by 10L. Odddy is dead right to point out the Walters horse, La Pagerie who is related to many winners including Whisper. At 14/1 she is definitely one to keep an eye on. There are some really nice pedigrees in the Lingfield but probably too many to warrant a strong bet. I like Princess Poppy who is 14/1 but the drift is a big concern and I also am fascinated by Pearly Girl who is 80/1 3 places and 70/1 5 places. Her dam won no less than three bumpers straight off the bat which is something pretty special. Pearly Girl is by Telescope though which does slightly dampen the enthusiasm.
Hereford 215 Harry Fry ups the trip for white heart lady and the conditions should suit . Lorcan Has been put in the plate and takes off a handy 3lbs . 9/2 available 4s general
They are getting stuck into Magic Seven this morning - backed from 7/4 into a general 6/5 (Bet365 still go 6/4). Amidnightstar has attracted decent e/w support (18/1 into 11/1). The opener at Fairyhouse has got my juices flowing already
2:30 at Leafy Flagrant Dilietiep Horse should relish conditions at Lingfield, good young jockey booked. Return to softer ground and the quality of opponents shouldn’t be a worry. Happy with double figure odds on him here.
Not sure what he has beaten there but that was a pleasing chase debut from El Fabiolo - a couple of novicey errors but he's entitled to that. Bookies cutting his odds for the Arkle
Nothing from me today but if members get a spare minute have a look at the 'Pertemps Qualifier' at Wincanton on St Stephen's Day. Ask yourself this - is the wise guy trying to get Wiseguy an entry for Cheltenham in mid-March?!? Hugely intriguing entry in my opinion. Note though that Wiseguy would need a ratings hike (and obviously to qualify as well!!!) to make the Final line-up and he's not totally guaranteed to 'get in' at Wincanton (number 23 in the handicap at the min). Should these be achieved though he'd be of huge, and I do mean huge, interest come mid-March.
For those who like a footie bet hills are offering evens on Totenham to score against Brentford there is a max bet in place but it looks a value football bet
The 2 Warren Greatrex runners catch my eye in that heat - very different profiles but both could be absolutely chucked in off 127.
Rather unlucky in the end, caught further back than ideal but ploughed through the last 2 furlongs when the rest were struggling to stay on and just needed another 100 yards and he was up.
The Harrington bumper winner in Fairyhouse was very taking I thought. Looks an absoulte beauty of a horse for going chasing in the future, one to keep track of in the next bumper or hurdle starts as it looks as though that old cliche of whatever it does over hurdles will be a bonus definitely applys here.
