i think, the fly in the ointment could well be SLANELOUGH,who is still quite unexposed over fences, and he had his fair share of bad luck on his two most recent starts.he creeps into this race on a potentially lenient mark, and his yard has already been amongst the winners.so,can go well today..

My old fave, Cochise, goes to Bath tomorrow (3.50) for what will probably be his last run for current connections – is in the ‘Horses in Training’ Sale at the end of the month. I would have thought though that the old boy would have it all, and I do mean all, to do to get past Quel Destin running in the same race off just 66, I say 66.

Since Quel Destin’s last run on the level he has won 5 over hurdles (including a Grade 1 and a pair of Grade 2’s), for Mr Nicholls, and attained a perch in that sphere of 142.

Off just 66, back on the level, Mr Nicholls’ charge does somewhat take the old eye. Yes, I know it will be merely a ‘prep’ for bigger targets later this Autumn/Winter but you would have to say off just 66 (and The Daughter’s claim takes another 3 lbs off Quel Destin’s back as well) you would be disappointed if he didn’t spreadeagle (cor blimey that’s a good word) this field of the morrow.

Plus, the stable know what is required in this heat having taken it in ’18 with Divin Bere.

Cochise very "brave", putting a-pache spell of form behind him.

another tough race to work out,but TOUT ET PERMIS is a horse,i like a lot,and his ability to go well fresh will stand him in good stead here.big shout on the road to even better things.

I tell you what after that performance I’d be amazed if they kept Cochise in the ‘Horses In Training Sale’. Really good display from a horse who still looks to have a lot of growing to do to fill his frame. Next season, when much more mature, should be some prospect.

Quel Destin cantered into the lead but then found little compared to the winner. You could slightly critique TheDaughter for hitting the front too soon but that’s only a minor quibble as it ultimately had little effect. Was let down by a lack of fitness at the ‘business end’ but the run should have brought him on with a view to the NH game.

It's possible. We will give him the benefit of the doubt but I expected more from him. I'm a little disappointed.
