Hi, I am currently designing a website as part of my college course, and I am just wondering of opinions of Saints fans as to what I could include: - Any landmark moments? (eg. Last goal at The Dell) - Any great goals or moments for YouTube links? (eg. Wayne Thomas v Ipswich) Basically, if you have any ideas, post them and I'll try to incorporate them The advice would be greatly appreciated - thanks Below is a current screenshot of the webpage as it stands, any improvements (if necessary) would also be appreciated
Thinking about what I dislike on the main Saints site the navigation is pretty dire. The reports are all pretty short and information isn't the easiest to find, If you work on those areas instead of just pretty pictures as they use you should be fine. How about including a new dynamic Southampton F.C forum not like the usual crap that's about saintsweb etc. Just my opinion good luck looks nice
Well seeing as I'd have to pay copyright, there won't be a great deal of pictures (they clog up the webpage too much most of the time anyway so not worth it) Thanks for the input
Sounds like an interesting project - I've done a little HTML and it was good to see the inner workings of sites, why they work, are popular etc, as well as why javascript is great for developers yet often annoying for users. (Some sites I won't go to because the pop-ups are so annoying. Mainly car dealers..!) Some ideas I have: * Best ever Saints players - one for each position or similar * Directory of chants * History of the Saints * Famous Saints fans (e.g Craig David, one of Coldplay, David Frost?..) * Make the mouse pointer a football or player figure! Good to see you're off to a 'uncluttered' start, I look forward to seeing the progress.
Goal of the day Ex player interview/profiles Can't think of too much new content, but anything more in depth than we see on the official site.
There will be ex player profiles, although it's only dating back till 2005 for now, theres about a hundred to do And the site will be indepth, mixed in with opinions!
I think only starting back to 2005 is an error as you need to widen your audience. If you are worried about numbers then profile only a couple from each year. I am sure you could ask people on here for their help or knowledge. Game of each season Goal of each season Signing of each season Flop of each season Player of each season Where are they now. Some of the above could be interactive or polls. "I saw a Saints star at ....." Sounds like a fun project; maybe I should go back to college!! I'd be interested to see the outcome and let me know if you need any old fart info.
I think the ultimate aim will be to go beyond 2005 eventually, with certain bigger players (such as Niemi, Le Tiss, Dodd etc etc) but just while I'm designing it I have limited it for now But Thanks for the input FLT, it is greatly appreciated and there are some good ideas there!
Good luck to you. I managed to shoehorn saints into a project at college for my media course. Mine involved editing a video tape which makes me feel incredibly old. What is the objective of the college course other than producing a good looking site? Do you need to generate user feedback?
A 5-Page website with certain things included (Forms, Polls etc) , although I'm going to carry this on and actually make it a live website as it's been quite a fun project! The user feedback will be part of my college submission after the half term
Having seen the entire website design, I have to say it is pretty good but there are some good suggestions on here as well. Good luck.
