Weak Mignolet has been exposed + EXCITING POLL!

What to do with a problem like Mignolet

  1. Loan him out

  2. Keep him as #1 keeper, re-assess in the summer

  3. Buy a new keeper in January and Mig can then warm the bench

  4. Buy a new keeper in January and sell Mig

I agree another keeper should come in in January. I think we need some one older and experience. Cech would be perfect.

Mignolet is still pretty young for a GK at this level as they often dont hit top form under 28+.

Maybe we should sign some one like Cech and loan Mignolet for a season. Mignolet has potential so I dont want to write him off to soon.

But right now he needs more experience, confidence and command. Maybe he joined us to early in his career.

On Jones, sure give him ago because he will try his very best. He did ok back when Reina was injured 2 seasons ago.

My only concern is he will get caught napping. <whistle>

So we should get someone who is incapable of letting in more than 30 goals a season and who is better than Dracula

    Quality analysis there

He's a good keeper but quite possibly not good enough for where we want to be. If he had a good defence in front of him and was allowed to play to his strengths (shot stopping) would we then be singing his praises. A back four and a keeper are all part of the defence and have to take joint responsibilty, if the defenders are constantly leaving him exposed he cannot deal with everything thrown at him.

just look at the s**t De Gea has to deal with though, having to work behind that muck defense. Still comes across as a stellar keeper though

Took him a while though. He's playing with confidence now and looks good. I'm not defending Mingo to the last, he certainly needs to improve but I just think that others need to take their part in it. At the end of the day the keeper is the last line and when players are waltzing through our whole team he can't be held responsible for that.

He's a part of the problem and we should definitely look to upgrade him.

But there are bigger problems that need addressing before him - Lovren, Skrtel, Johnson and Gerrard.

Get him on the bench....he could keep Jones company....and awake.

Borini and Mingolet....£20m to keep a bench warm

I dont think he will be out of work through lack of offers. i would love to see him back at GP working with Howard and joel and the younger lads. Highly underrated player and coach IMO

I don't get the venom spewed Mig's way either. There's a lot more upside than downside to him. For every mistake he does, he makes a dozen good or great saves.

You want horrible goalkeeping? That would be Reina's last year with us.

I think our current CB's may just need reshuffling (including the ones out on loan). I think we may have the right players being used in completely the wrong way.

And yet he still did better than Mignolet's first season and although it's down to the defence as well, Mignolet has let in nearly half as many as Reina's last season and we're only 12 games in.

Who finished in the top 5 for clean sheets that season. Reina was phenomenal.

I made a thread a few months back, I think Mignolet is one of the worst 1st choice keepers we have had.

Absolutely criminal that reina was replaced by this clown. Reina who was a great shotstopper, great distributor, great sweeper keeper and a player who stayed loyal and was passionate for liverpool got replaced by a decent shot stopper. Even worse was mingolet wasnt even cheap. Fingers crossed for you guys that mignolet improves on dominating his area (reina lacked this when he joined but we should give him benefit of doubt of adapting to prem) but in 2 and a bit seasons still hasnt improved.
