Can the doubters queue on the left for their spanking... this was bound to happen.... but nugents second goal (given by one official then chalked off by another) should of stood.... disgraceful.. (Im not biased).... how good were we? and how pants are derby? they are by far the worse outfit thats been down here this season (that includes Real Madrid)...what did we learn today? nugent is by far our best striker... the defence is looking awsome...claridge knows s**te....derby fans don't travel....and all the knockers are going to look foolish........ just wished we had MAYNARD ... MILLLEN IN!.....PS.. the spin the derby "official" site put on this thrashing is only surpassed by none league nigel's.....HAPPY DAYS.....
I don't know why you're getting excited. We're 6 points from the top. We should be 234 points ahead of 2nd place by now.
I am very dissapointed with todays results I am livid had a bet on leics 3-0 home win!! also had Man u,Sunderland, Leics and Blackpool for wins. Absolute b*llocks!! lost out on £300
What I learnt today was the Steve Howard has a massive part to play in our promotion push, after two away draws we could do with that man having more minutes on the pitch... Our slow italian style football really suited being 2-0 up but both opening goals were quite lucky. Ps. Long live Jeffery Schlupp
I don't think either of the first two were lucky? Certainly not the 1st as that was a well worked one touch move that was calmly finished by Nuge and the other was us winning the ball high up the pitch and then Vassell being in the right place at the right time. Also, I think the tempo of our football was one of the main plus points. OK start of the 2nd half we sat back a bit but I can imagine that Sven had just said for the first 10-15 minutes just keep it tight and don't concede and give Derby anything to hang onto and then after we'd weathered the storm, we retained the ball nicely and made Derby do a bit of running and then punished them at the end. Also, I can't see Howard featuring too much this season and wouldn't be surprised if he were to go out on loan.
I agree, it worked well 2nd half, but we didnt carve anything useful in the 1st besides the two goals, which i maintain were lucky, the 1st, Derby were so high up the pitch and were caught by some classy touches, the second was lucky. What im saying is we didnt really carve them open besides the disallowed goal and that has to change if Sven wants to adopt the slower tempo.
I take your point but I'm (shockingly) deciding to take the many positives from today, not great defending from Derby but we took advantage far better than we did against Cardiff, and the first goal was very well worked in spite of the high line. As I said in another thread, I'd still want a winger no doubt, if we could/would just have an individual who could skin someone for pace we'd be unstoppable. Danns has skill and had a good game but won't use his talents to beat a man. Vassell has pace but rarely has the balls either. Schlupp does to an extent but he's not a wide player, I'd prefer this kind of player to be involved in the general build up. As much as I like Dyer he's still not good enough. But, play with the same intensity and we'll do well. Not just without the ball but with it as well. You can be patient but also don't be afraid to take risks, as a team and as an individual. Anyway, we've sadly got 2 weeks off again so we don't have to worry about that for now, I'm just going to watch the match on Sky+ until I'm blue (pun intended) in the face
Eh? The first goal was awesome - you can't regard the opposition playing up the field as "lucky", since that's the approach that has brought them so much success recently. It failed massively against us. The second goal - don't recall it being lucky but if it was that's just desserts after the disallowed goal. Regarding other chances, Nugent alone should have had a hattrick if if it wasn't for the (wrongly) disallowed goal and the fact he slipped up in a key position for a third attempt. It should have been 4-0 at halftime - Derby didn't even have a shot on goal. I really wouldn't have called this a slow tempo game - at times it was pulsating stuff. The second half was a little dull (until the last 15 minutes when the Schluppster arrived), but we just looked so comfortable there was no need to push forward. Honestly, some people are never happy. I wonder if Sven will still have detractors if (when?) we get promoted?
There's no way it was ballooning over. I can see why it wasn't given though, I wouldn't have been happy if a goal like that was given against us.
We did play some good football, i would have liked to see us create more chances though, its just fortunate that most of our shots went in
