Bristol City will not buckle, insists boss Steve Cotterill

Matt Smith makes every effort to reach a cross for Bristol City against MK Dons in the League One clash

Bristol City manager Steve Cotterill issued a message of defiance to his team's main promotion rivals in the wake of the 0-0 draw at MK Dons.
Still top of the League One table after going toe-to-toe with one of their fiercest rivals, the Robins are a point ahead of Swindon

But City have a game in hand on both and are in pole position with 19 games of the campaign to play.
Cotterill said: "We're not going to buckle. There's not a chance of that. We're determined and we are going to keep going. We have said from day one that we want to win the league and we are going to stick to that and try to do our very best.
"We've had every opportunity (to buckle) this season. Every game we've played has been a big game and I'm struggling to think of a game when that was not the case.
"We've been up there to be shot at all along and I think we have done really well with it. I've been really pleased with the boys – they have been magnificent."

Defeat would have seen City supplanted at the top of the table by MK, but the Robins more than matched their nearest rivals, created the best of the goal-scoring opportunities and were only thwarted in their quest to take all three points by some outstanding saves from goalkeeper David Martin.
    "There
won't be many teams that come to MK Dons and have the possession we had or create the chances we created," said Cotterill. "There were times when we dominated the game and that won't happen to them too often at their place.
"Their goalkeeper has been named as
man of the match and that says something, because that will have been voted for by their people."
If Cotterill derived immense satisfaction with his team's performance and a result that keeps City at the top, he was equally pleased to see top-scorer Aaron Wilbraham make a successful return to action after long-term injury.
Now fully-recovered from the hip injury that sidelined him for six weeks, Wilbraham entered the fray as a 73rd minute substitute and came through unscathed in his first game since December 20.
"It's been a great day for us," admitted Cotterill. "To have Aaron back on the pitch was a real bonus. We're delighted to have Aaron back and, before long, he and Kieran (Agard) will be back to being the strikers who were firing earlier in the season."

I just hope his comment regarding Wilbs and Agard doesn't implode on JET..... he has done enough to be a starter until he screws up a couple of times!

At the top being fired at!...
PNE NEED 3 WINS TO STOP US BEING TOP 2 SO WE NEED TO LOSE 3....really!
    Chesrfld need 5
    Oldham and Sheff 6
    6 teams need 7
    4 teams need 8
and Scuuny well they need 9

19 games left win 7 draw 6 lose 6 that would allow PNE Sheff and Chstrfld A CHANCE!

really? Chesterfield, having sold their talismanic top-scorer, and on current form having won only 5 of their last 10 games, will go on a run that sees them take more points (44) from their last 18 games than they have in their first 28 games (42). They would have to win 14, Draw 2 and lose 2 matches, to get to 86 points. If they can do that then they would deserve automatic promotion.

I still think its a 4 horse race - Chesterfield v PNE tomorrow will decide if its really 4, or now 3+1+1

I get the impression JGF wants others to catch us, and prevent us from going up. No disrespect mate but you've been banging out numbers on how teams will catch us rather than concentrate on us.
Perhaps your wary of city's past to balls it up in the last game or two, or worse your a Gashead

There are some massive, massive games coming up for us for the rest of Feb following last nights result.

Concentration and commitment is needed. I don't doubt the players will show both qualities in bucket loads.

    Up The City

    Its ours to lose.
I don't think Cotterill is in the business of losing, certainly not this season
