Looking at the final table we were safe on 11th March when we beat Man City as that put us on 36pts. That means we were safe from relegation 2 months before the end of the season - Happy days
Wigan piled a load of points on the board over the last 10 games or so. Even QPR defied the odds by (unexpectedly) beating several of the top teams at home towards the end. We may have been probably safe on 11th March, but it took until 28th April to make it mathematically certain (against Wolves). Thankfully, Blackburn went into free-fall. Wigan seem to have turned the corner - could do quite well next season IMO.
The only blot on yesterday's beautiful landscape was QPR staying up. They will have a clear-out and strengthen imo.
For those bloobs who forecast that we would fail to reach Derby's record low of 11 points, we bettered that by beating Manchester City (Champions), Arsenal and Liverpool (4) and drawing with Spurs and Chelsea (should have been 3). We finished the season by taking more points off teams in the top half than we did from those in the bottom half. Well done, Swans, left those bloobs with faces as red as those shirts they are squabbling about!!
Safe with 10 games to play was a huge accomplishment within a League of crazy spending .... what an organization from top to bottom
