but we got all three points!!It's points that matter in the long-run,but,surely,performance and entertainment must come into the equation. Why are we so poor at the moment??We went in front today, against 10 men and sat back, taking our foot off the pedal. Why did we not go for the jugular??If it were not for a great display by both our goalie and striker,we would have been beaten by 10 men..and a poor side at that. What is wrong??Don't like being negative, but we are not playing well.I know we are unbeaten this season, but we must play better than we did today.Perhaps next week we will perform in a positive manner at City, and get a good result.Onwards and upwards!!

Still only the fifth game, so no need to wet our pants just yet. But we do have to look to score more goals, because we can't expect to keep the top sides out forever.

We were way below par today and as mentioned, if not for Mig & Fletcher we could easily have lost that game.

On the plus side. Defensively we were solid, Titus won everything at the back and Rose has slotted straight in ( i hope to **** we can get him permanently) I heard that we are having a 'behind closed doors' game this week tor Bardslys benefit, get him back in at right back and we have a very strong defense. Gardner has more than deputiesed in his absence but for me he is wasted there, we need him in the midfield.
Johnson clearly showed a lack of fitness and will only get better and better, Sess looked better but still missing that spark that willl come once fully match fit, he still has the lead boots on a bit.
Get Catts and Gardner back in the middle with a bit of bite and get the rest fully fit and we'll be fine. We're 2 players away from being a very, very good team.

The performance and entertainment will come soon mate it's all about the points this early in the season, we were no great shakes yesterday and it took Wigan to go down to 10 before we could score (harsh decision for me anyway) but, another ground out result so more than happy with the 3 points.

That win was as nervously achieved as could be imagined and I do think this winless run has effected the team quite a bit (although clearly not Fletcher) and I agree that it took a very harsh decison to reduce Wigan to 10 men to actually get us going yesterday. Larsson was very lucky to stay on the pitch as well imo, as his challenge was worse than Catts the night for me but didnt even draw a foul from the hapless **** stain Howard Webb (how ****e a ref is he btw).

Next week we are up against the current champions and there is no pressure at all on us as everyone will expect us to lose now and perhaps that will mean we will be able to relax. Its now 'no games' since we won a match next week for the stats lovers, so thats one 'monkey' off our backs at least.

Some other important things to remember here as well chaps.

    • Johnson got another 70 mins under his belt and will be all the better for that next week
    • Bramble was awesome yesterday imo and maybe even motm
    • Rose is a great find and looks a great little player and has settled immediately
    • Mignolet has come back this season and looks the real deal now. That point blank save yesterday was better than anything Peter Schmeichel could have pulled off
    • Sessegnon had a bit more spark in his game (although he is still a way off last seasons form)
    • Steven Fletcher is a top, top quality striker who is already worth more than the £12m we paid for him.

When we can get Bardsley, Brown and Cuellar fit and Catts back from self impossed exile, we will have a good squad to choose from again and be able to get Gardener back to the midfield, which we were sadly lacking in yesterday again imo. Colback looked a bit lost without Catts backing him up and imo, we can see how much Catts is missed as a driving force. Vaughan and Gardener in the middle; Larsson on the right and Johnson on the left with Catts as the enforcer and McClean used as an impact sub again, we will have more control imo.

We are 5 league games in and still unbeaten; we have 7 points (which is an average of 1.4 points a game and on course for 54 points which we all agreed was a decent target) ; we have 2 clean sheets (4 in 7 games if you include the cups) and have scored 5 (9 including the cups) and conceded only 4 and we are into the last 16 of the League Cup at home to Boro ............ and we all agree that we are playing pretty ****e?

Imagine what will happen if we start to play well? In another 5 games the league will settle down a bit and then we will see what sort of season we are going to have. Until then relax people. We are up an running.

Couldn't understand how negative we were. After we scored against the 10 men of wigan (dubious sending off imo), we put quite a bit of pressure on them for about 5 minutes, then sat back and virtually let Wigan boss us around. Ended up with hoofball upfield again from defence just to clear the lines before it came straight back. Why can't we seem to keep up some pressure on them instead of allowing ourselves to be under pressure. If that game had gone another 5 minutes it was odds on that wigan would equalise.

Not sure about the equalise comment. They never had a shot after the sending off. (Harsh IMO too... Although didn't look harsh at the time but replays made it look very harsh). Hope for another performance like last season next weekend against City then on to the Mags!
