    Tactics ****e

    Desire ****e

    Team Spirit ****e

    Prospects ****e

They 100% deserved it though and it could have been more.

What is it with Pardew and his inability to motivate a team to win a derby?

He really struggles to get the team up at times.

Don't worry: we'll sort it all out in the next transfer window with our glorious JFK at the helm. HA! HA! HA!

I think we've seen conclusive proof that one of the problems of our French-focused transfer policy is they don't understand this derby.

You look at the two better players today, both are local lads in Jack Colback and Adam Johnson.

Frankly it can't come as a shock to see these types of players really rise to the event. For all the talk and build up, the French and other foreign guys simply won't see it as much more than 3 points.

I know that sounds awful to say but I believe that to be true. It doesn't apply across the board but when you need that extra to step up particularly when not going well, that pride and passion matters.

Add that to the tangible sense of self-pity amongst players and supporters for today and it was coming...

You've got to remember that Sunderland have spent a net £91,930,000 more than us on their squad over the past 5 years. These sort of results are sadly going to become inevitable...

I know what you are saying based on today's result but it actually serves more to endorse our club's regime...

What on earth have they done with that money?

They should be the angry ones!

I'm sorry but that is a load of bollocks. Today I saw 3 'local lads' truly embarrass themselves, and Sissoko playing like the only one who gave a f**k.

Remember how badly Johnson played against us in the away game last season? Difference is that he now has a manager who has instilled him with confidence and he's a player reborn. Nothing to do with local or foreign players. Look at the football Sunderland played today. Look at the improvement. You can't possibly be blind to that and think it all about 'passion'.

Passion didn't win that game. Talent, discipline, organization and application did.

Pardew got it wrong, massively. If you want to play just one up top that striker needs to be strong and mobile. Shola just can't move these days.

His lack of faith in Anita, Tiote and Ben Arfa to play keep ball was disgusting. Root one from kick off played right in to their hands.

Taylor showed why Mbiwa should be picked ahead of him. He ran after the ball all game like a headless chicken and Santon was poor.

However, when all said and done lets not over react. We're safe from relegation, should still finish top ten and that was our season aim.

We can't judge a 38 game season in two matches against the Mackems. Credit to them, they played us off the park and look set to stay up. As for us, we need to accept that for the rest of this season there won't be much to play for, get to the summer and address our striking situation and get a Cabaye replacement.

Pardew had a bad day and so did the players and yes it hurts like hell at the moment. Chelsea away next which means it's likely to get worse before it gets better.

Well at no point did I say it was all about passion, no. So I'm not sure if we agree or disagree.

I'm also speculating so unless you know the NUFC players and have interrogated them on it I'm not sure how you can completely throw it out.

All I said was I don't believe the foreign players, of either side frankly, understand the importance of the derby to local supporters – win, lose or draw.

Nor would I necessarily expect them to...
