Are loan deals usually that long ?

weird one that. 18months loan until his contract expires then we can take him for free if we want. Why not just buy him outright?
    Something going on here.

There are a thousand possible explanations for the lengthy loan, but, it's quite plausible that Osasuna, like most of La Ligue, are in the sh*t, financially speaking, and can't afford to keep Lamah but also can't afford to cancel his contract. So, we've probably got him on a free loan, but are paying his wages, and at the end of the 18 months, we either keep him or say "Tara, Lamah!"

If this is the case it's a good deal for Swansea but a very poor one for Lamah! He'll need to be at the very top of his game to impress Laudrop and co if he doesn't want to find himself with nothing to do after 18 months ..or possibly sooner depending on the details of the loan contract.

Well - what are the odds that Laudrup will be here in 18 months anyway ? I think he'll be faced with a few big decisions in the summer.

I didn't spot the period of the loan. Lol. <doh>

Weird for sure, but it gives us complete freedom to do what we want with him. If he performs we can sign him up at any time during the loan period, if not tara Lamah (Sorry BAJ but I liked that!). He must really want to come here which is a good thing - & yet another Belgian international plays in the Prem.

I know there's been some understandable skepticism about this guy but if Laudrup likes him that has to be good enough for us. Also, with the current Belgian sqaud being overflowing with talent it mustn't be forgotten that this guy is a full international. Hopefully, he'll do the business.

Hi guys, hope you've been good since last I posted.

18 months loan is a strange one, Canas proposed deal was for 18 months too and Iago Aspas was for an 18 month loan deal.

What do you guys read into this:

Are players coming just because of ML and wont sign for longer than his contract expiry, he has 18 months left with us.

    Or

Is HJ being cute by signing long term loans thus avoiding huge transfer outlays which then can be re-routed to academy/stadium expansion.

Is signing loanees on long(er) terms the the way forward. Are we showing the way in a price swollen market with little value for money.

Think about it, no huge transfer outlays, we still get the services of a player for a relatively long term contract, loan contract has option to buy at a pre-determined price. Makes a lot of sense to me.

Not sure about Lamah the player though, I know absolutely nothing about him.

Agree, not sure what we should be underwelmed about at all, if you look at Laudrups signings they have pretty much been spot on and without massive risk.

Pablo was/is a very classy player and it was only going to take him a bit of time to find his feet.
Michu, well say no more really !
Chico, from day one looked like he could be a real asset..as long as he stayed on the field, now looking just as much a bargin as Michu!
JDG, a great loan signing that has assisted and scored crucial goals, filled in many different positions, very astute signing that covers more than one role.
Tiendelli, considering he came after the window closed and was a free agent he has done fantastic for us,will only get better the more he plays.
Itay, has been a let down imo.

Im all for Laudrup signing this type of player rather than coughing out £7m for a championship player like tom ince. Laudrups eye for a bargin has pushed us forward greatly these last few months and im sure there is plenty about this guy that will make him an asset to us also.

Time will tell about this player but ive seen enough of Laudrup/larsen to know that they get it right more than they get it wrong! and if they get it wrong then there has been minimal outlay from the club anyway, much like the schector deal!!

    In Laudrup we trust <ok>

Some people will say its tied down to Laudrup not being around in 18 months time but for me i think these are players that we are not 100% certain about and we dont need to make a financial outlay unless we feel its needed. The players mentioned apart from aspas imo will not be gaurenteed starters for us so why clog up the squad with players that may or may not make that required impact?

We have seen with Lita,Gower,Moore,Tate,Monk etc that its hard to offload when you want to,by keeping certain players on loan it makes things flexible for us. I also think that we will have bigger fish to fry in the summer and if it wasnt for us competing in all competitions i doubt we would have signed anybody in January, the squad has done very well in fairness, i think the extra bodies being brought in are to help cope with our heavy fixture list and are also the type of player that may turn out to be great but may not.

Huw says after signing Lamah we will not be signing any one else in this window. My reading of this is that Danny Graham is staying with us!!

Hope he is Pete, I still think Danny has a lot to offer us but he does need to 'get stuck in' more and make himself a starter.

Intresting. As i said above i dont think we would have signed anybody if our fixture list wasnt so busy,it makes sense really. Full back is looking strong, centre half is now looking good with Bartley coming in, we now have the four wingers we wanted,ki,leon, kemy, jdg in the middle is fine so all in all its not a suprise.

I think Laudrup using his squad to the full over Xmas may have changed his mind about needing extra players, i also think that the deal for canas has maybe got a bit pricey considering they can have him for free in the summer, we seem to be in a strong position and Laudrup looks like he is treating the clubs money as his own!! im sure if Laudrup really wanted some new faces he would have had them, the budget was beleived to be around £10m for him in this window.

Agree Norway, Having watched us play over Christmass I don't think we need to sign anyone. The squad we have have proved worthy of the prem.

Canas deal did become too pricey for us given his contract situation and you cant blame Real Betis for over pricing him, they realy didn't want him to go and, by all accounts, he didn't want to go either. Its actually quite gratifying to see loyalty both club and player showed eachother.

We do have a pre-contract agreement with Canas so it looks like he will be coming in Summer.

Hopefully we will keep our top performers in the Summer, what we need is for Michu to score the goals to get us the magic stay up number and then have a stinker for the end of the season..<laugh>

If the right deal comes up in January i think we may go with it but if has said thats all buisness done i find it hard to disagree with him !!
