    Well this is refreshing:

Going into a new season with real renewed optimism. An optimism based on a fresh start with new kits and badges - an exciting time for existing and new players to step out infront of a packed CCS bearing the new club identity.

On top of that we have a manager with promised financial backing in the transfer market and the prospect of our existing debt being wiped out and turned into equity for our Malaysian investors.

So... Do these investors love the club or are they looking to make a profit. Well firstly they are businessmen and very successful too. They have moved Cardiff City FC into a global market place and must surely have a business plan to support this. In times when the west is struggling financially, the east is a thriving environment and one that is looking for areas to spend its money. So why not us? Why not now? Why not use this opportunity to take a medium sized struggling (financially) Welsh footballing side and transform them, one step at a time into a force to be reckoned with?

I applaud their nerve, their stubborness in the face of backlash and their single minded determination to carry out their plans.

As Clingo said in another post - one day the Blue kit of Cardiff City may mean as our grandchildren as the yellow and brown kit of Riverside means to us. Afterall Cardiff City has been through radical kit changes and badge changes before and during our heralded history. Remarkably without any effect on our affection for the club.

Rebranding of any company brings renewed excitement and can create a push that allows transition from the ambitious to the glorious. I know, it's a lot for us to expect, but let's get 100% behind the club, the investors and the board members and make this the start of something incredible.

Finally, and this is important to remember - "progress is never a straight line"

A colour change is not going to stop me supporting Cardiff City.

    Well written post.

However our owners have handled this whole situation badly in my opinion.

To me its unnecessary and has caused bad feeling.

I still dont see how a red kit is more marketable.

I wont be buying red merchandise.

You're entitled to feel optimistic about your own club and nobody can blame you for that.

But come on: "I applaud their nerve, their stubborness in the face of backlash and their single minded determination to carry out their plans." Wtf?? Lots of Bluebirds (can I still call them that?) disagree. These jokers held a gun to your head to get what they want. Wasn't it a case of "Do as we say or you don't get the money"?

Amazing what some fans are willing to surrender just to keep up with the neighbours. Pathetic.

    KJ. You are partly right.

However its not to keep up with you. We will catch and overtake you ........... or you will slip below us (possibly more probably the more likely scenario)

The one thing thats good about this is the fear of some Jacks like yourself knowing this is going to happen. Your scared we can sense it.

Also give me a shirt change over ripping off businesses and begging on the streets of your neighbours any day of the week.

See you on the way down.

I had a similar post on our Facebook page which didn't go down well. No matter what the colour or the badge, history is just that. With all respect, it's not like we're one of European footballs top clubs. Let's use the rebrand to write our history, one without winding up orders, threat of admin, sellin best players to survive, off seasons of will we have a team when the season kicks off, and enjoy the good times, because that's what we're going to have when we aren't servicing the debts and all! We need to be optimistic and have reason to do so, premier here we come.

We've been through the typical cycle of change and are coming out the other side. There are 8 steps through the process, which is very similar to the stages of greif.

Optimism - woo hoo, the malaysians are going to invest loads of money and re-brand us
Shock - what, they want us to play in red and change the badge
Denial - it'll never happen, their having a laugh, this is a wind up
Anger - well, we all know what happened here
Bargaining - so what if we have red as the away kit, could we have the bluebird on the badge, blue as the away kit then and keep the stadium blue, and keep the name
Adapting - where we are now, not so bad, some more acceptant than others
Testing - to come now and in the near future, well I won't bet getting a shirt but will watch the games, we'll still chant 'Blooooobirds', how does this marketing work
Acceptance - may take a while! Seasons maybe, quicker if we get promoted.

There are a few ways to take people on the journey, but the quickest way is 'shock and awe', they obviously thought the 'hearts and minds' would take too long.

Was the leak deliberate? Light blue touch paper and stand well back. After the news got out and the kerfuffle settled down it all went a bit quiet, possibly deliberately so. That got us quickly through the Optimism to Anger steps. Let us stew on it for a bit and talk amongst ourselves and come to the conclusion that it's the lesser of two evils. We came out the other end without them doing much.

I think this was quite a calculated ploy by the Malaysians and probably worked as intended. I'm not saying we were duped, but we were taken on a pretty typical journey, albeit more emotionally charged than most changes.

    Good post Taffy,

I'm going to get the Red shirt and wear it with pride, there may be very few at our 1st home game but I bet there will be more than a few in Christmas stockings and quite a few by the end of the season.

Success breads success you only need to look at the club down west 10,000 new fans who asked why they play with a funny shaped ball and sing rugby songs.

    Onwards & Upwards

I'm not sure why you reply to him. You just fuel his ego. Ignore him like a naughty child, he'll soon get bored of spouting the same garbage on a continuous cycle..

.. As for the article I completely agree. I'll be buying the away kit next season as will the majority, but i'm sure i'll end up getting a red one at the end of the season on the cheap just because it's a part of history.

'Do these investors love the club or are they looking to make a profit'

i think both. if we grow into a big PL team over the course of many years, its not just the money they'll make, its also the success and having accomplished something...<ok>

I dont wear football shirts - other than to play football in - however ive told my son im not buying the red kit.

Its just not the red kit sales that will be hit though.

The badge is terrible and I can see poor sales of shirts in general.

The red sales will be really low though.

I will. I see it as a new beginning, the red kit is part of it, but getting rid of Sam will be fantastic. I will be near the start of the queue for my shirt because it's different (I didn't get one last season). I've followed the club through thick and mostly thin for nearly fifty years - if I can accept change I don't see why the majority of us can't just pull in the right direction (any direction away from the debt Sam got us in to - payable to him! - is a good way to go).
