It's a bit depressing seeing City, Chelsea, Barca and Real always getting linked to guys like Aguero, Sanchez, Pastore, Hazard, Lukaku, Neymar etc while we only ever seem to get linked to crap British players like Young, Henderson, Rodwell and Adam. We keep dreaming about Modric and Sneijder but there has been nothing to suggest we are interested in either of them. I know the media usually just make stuff up but when they aren't even bothering to link us to these kind of players it's pretty clear that we aren't dining at the top table of football transfers anymore.
Not getting linked to players just means we're smarter than the rest and are keeping our plans secret. Nazi like preperation.
or it means that the media know that we have no chance of getting these players so they don't bother linking them to us in the same way they wouldn't link stoke or fulham to them.
If I was a journalist writing an article, I personally wouldn't link players with Sir Alex Ferguson seeing as his tactics, and many other aspects of his game are unpredictable.
Do you even read the papers?!? We've been linked to Sneijder, de Rossi, Modric and de Gea since about February and linked with Hazard as much as anyone! All the others are strikers, and we aren't looking to buy any strikers right now. And the only club linked to Aguero right now is Juventus! Talk about blind negativity...
I don't pay attention to who the media links us with because it is all unsubstantiated speculation. A player linked with United will be linked with City two days later, Chelsea two days after that and so it goes on. It's all bullpooh!

ALL teams have to be smarter about publicly linking to players, agents/"mega rich" other clubs all try to get a bit of the pie, interfere etc etc - More politics and money about these days...... Did we get de Gea??
I think it was only the Football Manager brigade linking us with Hulk. I never seen it in the papers.

So we should now gauge the success of our club by who the are linked to in the press, as opposed to winning titles ? If you read the BBC sports " gossip pages " ( which basically shows the transfer gossip from most of the national newspapers, daily ) then Spurs have been linked with at least 100+ players this year alone and just how many of them have they signed ?. The only time I take any notice of us being linked to a new player, is when we confirm that we have signed him and not some half hearted report in the "Daily Rubbish ". If Fergie thinks a player is right for United and more importantly the player wants to join us , then the first you usually hear about it is when the deal has been done, so remember Fergie is BRILL19NT !!!!!
I was talking about the last statement from Atletico that says only Juve have made a definite offer. I think the Liverpool link was just from the gossip rags (same as the City, Chelsea etc links)
