He got grief for hitting the ball foward but i think the last few games have shown us that he is by a mile our best Centre Back and having Gordon in goal with Bramble and Turner ahead of him is the best back 3 we could possibly have. Theres noone to organise the line, win the headers from corners because at the moment it looks like we will conceed from every corner, Mignolet is good but he doesnt command the area like gordon. get through Man City without injuries and focus on the run in, if we can get Turner and Gordon back fit, i dont see why we cant win all our home games and snatch afew away from home. Terrible today but KTF.
Been saying this for weeks, and agree wholeheartedly. He must be close now. Problem is, we have stopped scoring goals, thats the big problem, and today, we didn't even create chances, despite some nice stuff betwenn Gyan and Wellers. That's the biggest worry for me.
"Terrible today but KTF". I'm finding it very hard to KTF tonight. I found our display really depressing. I can usually find something to hang on to and hit back at the banter from up the road, which I generally enjoy, but tonight my heart isn't in it. I agree (hope?) Turner coming back could change things and I personally like Zenden and Malbranque for their approach to the game and it seems that that is what is wrong. We have the talent, skill etc. but it's in the heads of the players somewhere. However we do need a Parker or an Adam. Mignolet is fine for me if Gordon is not 100%, Ferdinand and Bardsley give it all, rest Henderson, bring in Zenden, keep Sessegnon behind Wellbeck and Gyan. Surely we can find a couple of wins somewhere because the teams we've got coming up have all got something to go for. Maybe that's our problem. The players think we're not getting into Europe and we're not going down. Kick-up-the-backside time, Brucey?
we were rubbish today all over the park, but i'm starting to wonder what all the fuss is with mensah?? the more i watch him, the more i worry he may be over-rated. that decision to chest the ball for their first goal was something anton does at his very worst, it was appalling defending, and something turner would never in a million years do. having mentioned anton, i thought he was alright today. if you could just up his work rate and concentration by 20%, he'd be an amazing footballer.
Mensah can be immense on his day; let's not forget how much he's been injured this season, and how many games he has stepped up and played despite his injuries, when many players would have said thanks for the wages, and sat in the injury room for a few weeks. Mensah was poor today, however Suarez looked to capitalize on the assumed "Ghanaian revenge" by hitting the deck every time Mensah was near him, regardless of contact.
i always have thought mensah wasnt big enough to be an epl cb but everyone was talking about him as in the same league as a puyol if he wasnt injury prone
