Bates asks for patience, Leeds need to shift some players out as we have one of the largest squads with 28-29 senior players when most other teams have 22-23? I tried to name the 28 to 29 and couldn't so reverting to the clubs official website we have 26 and that includes O'Dea, Maik Taylor and Townsend on loan.

It did get me looking again at the amount of dead wood that we have one way or another either through simply being not good enough or refusing to play/out of managers plans. Which players would you like to see leave within the next two weeks?

Paynter, AOB, Connolly, Rachubka for sure. I'd hold on to DoD at the minute, but would ideally want to move him on and bring new players in instead.

Unfortunately I'd also have to say Kissa, not because I consider him deadwood, more that I can't see him ever being the same again, and CB is a position where we have a lot of average and need to strengthen with quality. Same could apply to Somma depending on how well he recovers?

I think somma is worth holding onto, especially considering his goalscoring looks exceptional. I realise his injury, the guys frustrates me alot though because you know he has the talent, hes just lazy as **** and doesnt work enough for the team.

I definitely think he's worth holding on to, was just making the point that he could, unfortunately, not be the same player when he recovers. Time will only tell on that one. I know what you mean about the frustrating side of his game, and that only looks and will look, worse when he is playing alongside Becchio.

As well as those already mentioned I'd get rid of Bruce (not good enough) & Parker (injury prone & not good enough).
Don't think we need Sam anymore either as we have Pugh/White to cover LM, Rogers (assuming he gets his work permit), Townsend & Snodgrass who can operate on both flanks.
Quality, permanent RB & CB required, the money is there somewhere. There's enough loanees in the squad now.

I don't know why I didnt include Bruce on my list as well to be fair! If Delph comes in at CM and Pugh drops to LB then I'd agree with Parker leaving, as we'd have Pugh / White / Taylor as options there, all who are better or have more potential for development IMO.

As for Sam, I think I'd keep hold of him for the time being, though I can see where you are coming from. I think if he goes, it would be out of a desire to play more first team football than he will see with the arrival of Rogers and Snoddy coming back.

I think Sam is better than Nunez. Nunez will never get any real chances in the middle so he'll be playing out wide if he plays, and if sam is rated higher (he is imo) then nunez should be the one we should be looking to get rid of

True Josh, I didn't even consider Nunez. Brain hasn't quite kicked into gear this morning!

I'd keep Nunez, definite potential & will improve. Apart from his one tantrum he's shown a good attitude, going out on loan & learning the game.
Worth keeping even if it's just as an impact sub.

Do you think another loan stint would be worthwhile Essex? Getting more regular starts would be better for development than impact sub appearances surely? Nunez is one of those players who I desperately want to be good, but it seems his skills don't live up to what he plans out in his head.

Another loan spell would be good for him Durham. Think we all want to see him do well as he offers something different. Would hate to see him turn into another Grella, who showed glimpses of real quality but never quite made it.

    Where do you start:

GK: Paul Rachubka (Release or Loan)
CB: Alex Bruce (Release or Loan)
CB: Andy O'Brien (Release on Let Rot)
    CB: Patrick Kisnorbo (Pay Off)
RB: Leigh Bromby (Release or Loan)
LB: Ben Parker (Release or Loan)
CMF: Mika Väyrynen (Release or Loan)
LMF: Lloyd Sam (Release or Loan)
CF: Billy Paynter (Release or Loan)

    - - - - - -

We need to promote these lads to first team alongside Lees & Thompson:

    CB: Nathen Turner
    CB: Monty Gimpel
    RB: Sam Byram
    LB: Lewis Turner
    LB: Charlie Taylor (Recall him)

    - - - - - -

We will need to sign players, but we need to trim the squad ASAP

We have one of the smallest squads in the championship only 2 clubs have smaller so yes I agree get rid of the players not good enough but get in 3 quality players in Andrews CB AND LICHAJ

I'd get rid of Paynter, Rachubka, AOB, Bromby and Parker right now. Others would depend on players coming in. I wouldn't get rid of Sam even assuming Rogers gets his work permit, surely 4 wingers for 2 (maybe 3 if we consider Snoddy could play behind a striker) is standard? I don't really consider Pugh a winger.

Mostly the same ones I would release with immediate effect, a lot would also depend on IF the funds were all going to be put back into the pot for wages and players. I would also get shot of Forssell and I would sell Nunez, while he excited me at the start I don't feel he is going to improve enough to make an impact. Lloyd Sam I also agree with selling if Rogers is seen as being ahead of him in the queue

You're very sure anyone would want any of that lot. How bout we loan them out, then continue to pay the bulk of their wages. Best chance of disposing of them methinks

Bates is spot on as always. Our squad is clearly far too bi and far too much quality for the championship. Two injuries and we struggle to field a team. I would suggest a squad of perhaps eight full time players and perhaps four or five to make up the numbers would be perfect
