We miss Cattermole imo

Okay, it was a frustrating (piss poor game) and we struggled to get any kind of grip on the match all night. Swansea play a good possession game but its all so pointless. They had a lot of shots (wild ones as well) from 20 and 30 yards but precious few real chances that worried us imo.

I'll take a point and another step closer to survival.

However, I think we are really missing Cattermole in the centre of midfield, as he brings so much passion and drive to our play which we are currently lacking. N'Diaye was not at the pictures tonight and looked a bit lost in that holding role. I think he looked far better pushing forward than just in front of the back 4 but his time will come.

We need another option up front as well and Fletcher needs a partner that will stop him being so isolated and Martin needs to loosen the shackles at home if he is to attract back the missing crowd which was poor tonight in terms of both numbers and vocal support.

The boos at the end were disappointing but part of the modern supporters repertoire and as for the Danny Graham reception - as he would say, just tongue in cheek banter surely? Like his interviews?

Also, that was the biggest 'miss' I have ever seen in my life, as he could have scored easily and proof if it were needed that he will be a Sunderland player for the Reading game imo.

PS - good result for the mags but mixed feelings as well. I so want Villa to go down for all their **** fans that taunted us when Bent went there but hate seeing the mags win. Lol

    This.

I was hoping for an equaliser to keep them both in the mix.

Still, to see B€nt and his "big club" Villa go down would be brilliant, and IMO there is now a git big chance it will happen.

He was absolutely dross. He's miles away from being a premier league player.... About as far as Wickham... Mags have brought in Sissoko for half the price MON paid for this nugget! I must have been pissed when I posted my thread about N'Diaye being the next Viera.

Haway mate, he was excellent at Wigan but not at the game tonight. Shall we not try and give him at least 10 or 15 games before we comment on him properly? Sissoko set up the first goal tonight and N'Diaye set Fletcher up for our 2nd v Wigan?

LOL This mug hasn't got a clue. the crowd will keep on going down because of O'neill style of play. plus the boos at the end of the game was because we only had 2 shots all game.

I GIVE UP ON SOME FANS ME LIKE.

Agree we miss Cattermole's drive etc but not his lack of assists and goals, you need more than a good engine and drive to be a Premiership footballer. Similarly with Colback we admire them for their effort etc but sometimes you have to be ruthless and say they just are not good enough.

If we have missed Cattermole, how come we are currently playing our best football and on our best run? Its a tricky one but we still lack a creative central midfielder.

    Every player can't be messi.

In every team its the collective components that give it the strengths bye weaknesses.

Catts give us a drive, winning mentality and great spirit and we are far better with him than without.

Been saying this (both me and you Cest) for 2 seasons now - he is a very very good and important player - he was looking close to the complete footballer before his injury - could pass, tackle, much more controlled and even getting into the box - I'd love him to score in whichever game he plays next!! Can't wait till he's back leading our side forward

To be fair to the rest of the lads with him or without him we are about the same however, in a game like last nights he could have made the difference between a poor 0-0 draw and a half decent 0-0 draw. Not sure the outcome would have been much different but, the game itself would have been a bit more watchable.

Steve bruce signed Whickham by the way, Villa will stop up because they play teams like us when they need a result, and we need midfielders who create and Cattermole, Colback, don't.
