http://www.fulhamchronicle.co.uk/lo...37/?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter According to this Simon Davies will be at best a rarely used squad player next season, or perhaps more likely will be moving on. What a great player he has been for us, up there for me with some of our finest players since returning to the premier league. Part of me would rather he moved on and enjoyed the rest of his career than sitting on our bench. Could do a good job at many premier league teams, or alternatively go on be an absolute superstar in the championship next season. Reluctant for him to go, but in terms of bringing through the likes of Frei and Kaka then it is probably in the interests of the club.
Agreed, robes. He probably should go for his own sake more than anything, but his Europa goals will be etched in club history.
Yes seeing him and Dickson sit just kills me, but that's football. Yesterday's hero is today's bench warmer.
Davies will be absolutely fine, he will either play for a lesser club in the PL (possibly a promoted team) or as you said, absolutely tear it up in the Championship. He is a match winner on his day, much like Duffers. I'd love to see him back here coaching with Murphy someday.
Since Simon is 32 I guess Jol is looking at younger wingers, but I still think he could do a job at right back. Unlike most of our fullbacks he can cross a ball on the run. Unless his injury dictates he can't perform at Premier level any more, I always thought that when he was asked to play full back that he did it well, and played even better than Pantsil. He would have been my right back in preference to Hughes for this season. Of course he's got more competition on the wings now from youngsters coming through, but will Grygera recover, and will Kelly stay.
I think he will go to a ball playing team, like Swansea or Norwich. One of the promoted clubs might be interested. If he went to QPR he could pocket a nice £50k a week!
I could definitely see him at QPR, wouldn't have to move house, Bobby and Heidur play there, and would be reunited with former FFC/Wales boss Sparkles.
On the other thread I just saw Davies scoring against Hamburg. Let's just say the hairs stand up on the back of the neck of every supporter who was there whenever they see it. C O Y W
