http://www.standard.co.uk/sport/foo...-admits-chairman-tony-fernandes-10002569.html It does make me wonder what TF means by 'die'.
Watched the latest installment of TF's interview - After reassuring words about the progress of the academy and developing young players, and making oblique references to the fact that the reason we've been on the back foot since we came up to the Prem with NW is mostly because Mark Hughes bought so badly and left us with that legacy, he added that it's tough at the bottom. He emphasised "tough" and I think what he was really saying is, if Harry fails with 16 games to go, it's tough... Life is tough - there are worse things, and he's been dealing with them recently in Asia. He said this was the worst period of his life. I believe him.
I think it means come the last day of the season, we will need to go to Leicester and win to survive. Will that be our first away win of the season?! I would not read too much into 'die'. It's just a turn of phrase.
This is the printed version of what he said last week - I only interpret his words as they will take responsibility if the decision to keep Arry is wrong. That's fair enough and I'm not looking to point the finger (except that any other manager would give us more of a chance IMO).
Does this mean that at last someone is prepared to take responsibility? That is something that has been sadly lacking for quite a few years!
I like Tony for his honesty. I absolutely hate him for his total ineptitude and unwillingness to accept that he got it wrong again until it is too late. The biggest mistake (after signing Redknapp in the first place) was not letting Redknapp go after the Play Off Final. We will need Tony to stay because he has made us unmarketable as a proposition for any serious investor. I'm just glad that the Mittals are still around even if they are waiting for the last few pounds to drop off the price tag. He does not see, even now, that it's no good just blaming Mark Hughes' disastrous signings when his successor has made exactly the same costly howlers. So what are we going to do? Get rid of Fer, Mutch et al for peanuts so that we can pay for Aaron Lennon to be loaned to us for the rest of the season? I can see why he is reluctant to give Harold an open cheque book. So why place his trust in him to turn it around. I believe that TF has been influenced by the fact that he saw where Flavio went wrong and decided he would be the nice owner that everybody loved who would back his managers all the way and not just fire them every time they refused to field some Italian relative of his who did not even know how to kick a ball. Come on man. For God's sake. Show your ruthless streak. Many of us are happy to judge you now.
Flavio of 'Mahon! ...Mahon!' and 'I want their names (of fans jeering)' fame. Oh for the good old days!!!
Where shall we have the wake? Crown and Sceptre? The patient is terminal, lets just try to save his dignity.
Yep Tooting, my glass is definitely half-empty at present. Everything I see happening with our rivals at the bottom is positive and all we've got is another West Ham reject on loan with crying needs throughout our under-performing team. This time next week I'll probably be in a straight-jacket...
Time shortly to unite IMO This is not the Tony Crooks show He is not delivering and very good at using words Wish he would take a back seat and get some responsibility I turned off after 3 mins of part one Wake up what the **** is this and why is it released like a ****ing mini series all about Tony Where's the transparency? That's right you can't see it The worlds best men just get on and do it . This type of businessan is typical of today ... All fur coat and at least 15 pairs of knickers
Don't worry about it Soops, try to focus on the positive. Should we go down, we have a chance to reinvent ourselves away from the Spurs rejects club we've become - look at it like that.
Stop talking sh*te Sooper. You was at that this time last year too. We're just four points off 12th FFS. We've got as good a chance as any of the rest to stay up.
Different level this time, your blind faith is illogical. Four points or forty, 19th place = goodbye...
Blind faith my 'Arris. I'm looking at it from a practical point of view and the fact is we're just one single point away from our target position. How can you write us off in such a position yet say that its me who's being illogical? It'd be different if we were rock bottom and 6 or 8 points cut adrift. Hold firm for a bit longer at least, Soops. Your Club needs you.
We don't have a single point away from home. It is more than fair to assume that old Dino chops won't turn things round imo.
And we've 19 at home. Doesn't matter where you get them. Besides, we won't go all season without an away point. That's fair to assume, yes. But to write us off completely in January when we're just a point from safety is madness.
